Miley Cyrus is returning to the biggest role of her career. The singer and actress is celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Hannah Montana,” announcing a special that will air on Disney+.
‘“Hannah Montana’ will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection,” she said in a statement. “The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This ‘Hannahversary’ is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
Disney+ shared a video on social media, sharing a video of a car arriving at a set, playing some of Hannah Montana’s most famous hits. The clip then cuts to some black high-heeled boots with golden heels, teasing Cyrus’ appearance.

Cyrus’ memories as Hannah Montana
Earlier this week, Cyrus shared some photos of her days working on “Hannah Montana,” the series she starred in for four seasons, kicking off in 2006, when she was only 13 years old.
The photos show Cyrus with a blonde wig, smiling in a pink jacket, glittery white t-shirt, and white pants. More images show a box filled with scripts and a jacket, with the letters “HM” bedazzled in the pocket.
“Going through the archives… so many memories,” she captioned the post, adding a heart emoji and signing it “xoMC.”
More details about the 20th anniversary of the show
The “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” will air on March 24th on Disney+. The show will be filmed in front of a live studio audience, featuring an interview between Cyrus and Alex Cooper, the host of the podcast “Call Her Daddy.”
Aside from the interview, the special will feature Cyrus reacting to some of the show’s most iconic moments, its most famous songs, behind-the-scenes footage, and various recreations of the show’s sets, among them, Hannah’s iconic walk-in closet.
Starting February 19th, Disney+ will begin a non-stop stream featuring the four seasons of “Hannah Montana,” and the movie and concert movie that were released: “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” and “Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert.”
Cyrus’ feelings regarding her Disney series have evolved over the years. When she was younger, she tried to shy away from it, making a clear definition between the artist she was and the character she plays. In an interview with CBS, she revealed that she now felt grateful for the character.
“I love her. She’s everything. I would have nothing, none of this… I mean, maybe I could have figured it out, maybe I could have gotten myself from Nashville, Tennessee to Los Angeles, I don’t know, but she did it a lot faster and better and set me up for the life that I have now,” she said. “I love her. Gratitude. All of that.”
