Millie Bobby Brown is announcing a new change in her life. The 21-year-old actress was promoting the new season of “Stranger Things” when she revealed that she’d legally changed her name following her marriage to Jake Bongiovi.
Brown made the revelation while playing a game of questions with her co-star Noah Schnapp. While playing a quickfire round, Schnapp was asked about Brown’s full name. “Millie Bonnie Brown,” he said.
Brown laughed and corrected him, revealing that she took her husband’s name following their wedding. “Drop the Bobby, drop the Brown,” she said. “It’s just Millie Bonnie Bongiovi.” Brown joked that she can now go by the nickname “Millie Bon Bon,” prompting laughs from her co-star.
In the past, Brown has opened up about her name, sharing that the middle name Bobby is actually a stage name. “I’ve never told anyone that,” she said in an interview with Buzzfeed UK. She said she added the name “for s— – and giggles.”

Brown and Bongiovi sparked dating rumors in 2021, when Bongiovi shared a selfie alongside Brown, with the two making kissy faces for the camera. The two married in May 2024 in a small ceremony attended by their closest family members and hosted a larger wedding in Italy, attended by friends and family.
Earlier this year, they announced they welcomed a daughter via adoption. “It’s been a beautiful, amazing journey — she’s taught us so much already,” Brown said in an interview with British Vogue. “Perspective is a huge thing. The smaller things in life are so much more precious. Our days are filled with lots of cuddles and laughter and love. It’s just endless joy.”
Brown also shared her feelings regarding growing her family and starting to welcome kids when they are young. “I really want a big family — I’m one of four; he’s one of four,” she said, sharing a look at her family dynamics. “I don’t see having your own child, you know, as really any different [than] adopting.”

“For me, it’s really important to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself. It’s not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly. If she chooses to share her personality one day with the world, like I did when I was young, that’s something we’d support. But right now, as she’s so little…” she said. “As her parents, it’s our job to protect her from that.”
