Mindy Kaling shares rare photos of daughter Anne on special day

“I can barely take how much I love my Annie girl,” Mindy wrote in the caption. “She is the top of the Christmas tree, a surprise bite of cookie dough, the baby of the family who made us complete.”

“She loves to sing, wake up with very specific outfit plans, and kisses the pages of her books,” the 46-year-old continued. “She truly believes Elmo is a member of our family. Happy 2nd birthday to our Tiny Jones, as @souljagirlllll calls her, little Ponyo, literally the best ever. I love you, Anne Kaling!”

Mindy’s friends and fans took to the comment section to share the love, with her The Office co-star Angela Kinsey writing: “ADORABLE!! Happy Birthday to your ‘lil gal!” while her other Office co-star Kate Flannery chimed in: “What a love letter! Well said, Mindy. Happy happy birthday, Annie.”

“She’s clearly a [mini] Mindy,” said another fan, while another added: “So love this…you go little one!!!” 

Mindy, who is also a mother to Katherine, eight, and Spencer, five, shared how things had changed since she welcomed her third child in 2024.

“When I had two children, I felt like you would go to my house, and it was like, ‘Ahh, a tasteful, colorful home with a woman who has children,'” she said on the Today show. “And now it looks like I run a preschool of 40 children. There’s weird mechanical toys going up. You step on LEGOs. It really is more of a mess.”

The Mindy Project star announced the news of her family addition several months after Anne’s arrival via an Instagram post that featured her three kids all together.

“In late February, I gave birth to my daughter, Anne,” the caption read. “She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined.”

“When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life. I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline. Thanks for all the birthday wishes!”

Mindy works hard to keep her kids out of the spotlight, and of the rare photos she does post of them, the mom of three ensures that she keeps their faces obscured. “I have no judgment for people in the public eye who share photos and videos of their children,” she told People.

“My sense is that [my kids] have no real consent right now to do that…I feel like I might as well wait until they get old enough so they can tell me if they want to be part of my social media or not.”
