Fátima Bosch was crowned Miss Universe this past November, following perhaps the most controversial Miss Universe ceremony yet. Since she’s faced endless criticism from detractors, with many questioning the legitimacy of her win and her future decisions as Miss Universe. Despite the backlash, Bosch has retained her humor, addressing rumors and comments with confidence. She recently went online to address a new wave of online speculation, one that claims she’ll be renouncing her crown.
On February 11, Bosch took to Instagram to shut down these viral reports. The rumors appeared after she allegedly posted, and then deleted, the phrase “I can’t take it anymore” on social media. The dramatic statement prompted speculation regarding a possible resignation.
Screenshots circulating on social media claimed fans were “concerned” about her future in the role.
Bosch quickly dismissed these posts, calling them fake. “HAHAHA hey don’t believe all of the fake news that people make up, I’M SUPER HAPPY WORKING,” she wrote in Spanish. “You have a Miss Universe for the entire year, don’t worry!”
Controversy over alleged fraud
This is not the first time Bosch has had to defend her title. Shortly after her coronation ceremony in Thailand, speculation emerged online alleging fraud behind her victory. The discussion resulted in some awkward moments she addressed in interviews.
In an appearance on the Telemundo program “Hoy Día,” Bosch firmly rejected those accusations. “Of course I wouldn’t resign because I earned this crown and this sash,” she said at the time.
“There’s only one truth. I made the same effort and commitment as all my fellow contestants. We went through the same tests, and I won. Why would I give up something I worked so hard for?”
A glimpse of her recent trip
The same day she addressed the rumors of resigning, Bosch shared highlights from a recent trip she took to San Juan, Puerto Rico, showing where her true priorities lie: completing her work with the Miss Universe organization. With the ocean as her backdrop, she shared numerous photos, captioning them, “Out and about.”
Bosch spent several days on the island fulfilling her duties as Miss Universe and having some fun, meeting and spending time with Miss Puerto Rico, Zashely Alicea.
Despite the ongoing online chatter and the fact that the Miss Universe organization is undergoing various investigations and scandals, Bosch continues to carry out her role publicly and confidently. She’s made it clear; there are no plans to step down and relinquish the crown she fought so hard for.
