It seems like there’s a new selfie of the moment for our current times. Cristiano Ronaldo, Georgina Rodriguez, Elon Musk, and more were recently guests at a White House dinner, dropping a selfie that’s reminding us of one of the most viral selfies of all time.

The photo was taken by Ronaldo and shared on social media. The photo shows Ronaldo holding on to the camera as he snapped the image, with Rodriguez, Musk, and other notorious people from the Trump administration smiling brightly at the camera.

The photo shows everyone at the party wearing their best, with Musk and Ronaldo wearing suits and with Rodriguez wearing a gorgeous mind that reminded us of a dress Hillary Swank wore to the Oscars.

While drastically different in its meaning, the image calls to mind Ellen DeGeneres’ iconic Oscars selfie, which was taken by Bradley Cooper and showed some of the bigger stars of the moment, including Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, and more.

More details about the White House dinner

The photo was taken on Tuesday, at a dinner hosted at the White House to welcome the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Bin Salman.

According to AP News, Ronaldo was seated near the front of the East Room, close to the President and the Crown Prince, who addressed the crowd at one point. He was in attendance at the dinner alongside some notorious tech businessmen, including Musk and Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Ronaldo’s relationship with Saudi Arabia

Ronaldo was a special figure yesterday evening, with Trump mentioning him at one point in his speech. He attended the dinner as one of the major representatives of the Saudi Arabian soccer league, with whom he’s been playing since 2022, when he signed a lucrative contract worth $200 million.

“Barron got to meet him. And I think he respects his father a little bit more, now, just the fact that I introduced you,” said Trump, making it clear that Barron is a fan of the soccer icon.

Ronaldo also played a key role in securing the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia, with him pushing the bid and later saying that he was incredibly excited to see the country host the World Cup for the first time. “After what I see, I’m more convinced that 2034 will be the best World Cup ever,” he said.

He’ll reportedly participate in next year’s World Cup, which will be hosted in Mexico, the US, and Canada.

Yesterday’s dinner marked Ronaldo’s first official US visit since 2014, when he played in one of the rare international games hosted in the country.
