Disney+ has released a first look at the upcoming comedy-drama, Alice and Steve, starring Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement.
Tipped as “the next must-watch,” the six-part Hulu Original follows the titular longtime friends, whose lives are turned upside down when Steve starts dating Alice’s 26-year-old daughter.
While the two leading stars are enough to entice viewers, the series also comes from the award-winning production company behind Baby Reindeer, Clerkenwell Films. Plus, the show is penned by Sophie Goodhart, who has writing credits on Rivals and Sex Education.

What is Alice and Steve about?
The upcoming series, described as “outrageously witty,” follows best friends Alice and Steve.
When Steve starts dating her 26-year-old daughter, Alice is devastated and tries everything she can to end their relationship.
The synopsis continues: “Unfortunately for her, Steve’s more than ready for the attack, and what begins as a perfect friendship devolves into an all-out feud.”
“A hilarious, messy, and complicated exploration of friendship, family, and love, Alice and Steve is an anti-romantic comedy that asks the question, how far would you go for love – or revenge? Will Alice forgive Steve? Will Steve and Izzy make a relationship work? Amongst all the questions hanging in the balance, one thing is certain; their lives will never be the same again.”
Who stars in Alice and Steve?
Nicola Walker, who is perhaps best known for her roles in The Split and Unforgotten, leads the cast as Alice, alongside Jemaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows, Flight of The Conchords) as Steve.
They’re joined by Joel Fry (Cruella) as Alice’s husband Daniel and Yali Topol Margalith (The Tattooist of Auschwitz) as Izzy.
Tyrese Eaton-Dyce, Marcia Warren, Eilidh Fisher and Ebony Aboagye also star in the ensemble cast.
What have the leading stars said about the show?
In statements released when the show was first announced in May last year, Nicola Walker said she was “thrilled” to be “stepping into the fabulous world of friendship, motherhood, marriage, frantic revenge and fierce love that Sophie Goodhart has created, and to be doing it with Jemaine Clement is completely joyful!”
Jermaine Clement added: “I really relate to Steve – he’s classy, stylish and an all-round good guy – except for when he isn’t. I’m excited to be working with the wonderful Nicola Walker and seeing how Steve and Alice’s relationship descends into absolute chaos.”
When will the show be released?
The six-part series comes to Disney+ this summer. A release date has yet to be announced.
