Nicole Vargas Gomez has died in a tragic hit-and-run accident in Colombia. Vargas was a contestant on “La Voz Kids” in 2019, rising to national attention. She was 19 years old.
Vargas’ death took place on the road in Quindio, Colombia, with another man dying in the collision. His name was William Andres Paipa, and he was a colleague of hers.
Local authorities report that Vargas and the man were crossing the road when a car struck them and left. Police claim that the driver fled the scene, and they’re currently on the hunt for them. The accident took place on Saturday, February 21, around 8 PM.
“A traffic accident occurred involving pedestrians being run over by an unidentified vehicle, affecting two individuals who were crossing the road in the restaurant area at El Solar,” said a statement reported by The Daily Mail.
“At this time, the individuals can be identified as William Andres Paipa and Nicole Valeria Vargas Gomez.”
Vargas was featured on La Voz Kids, first appearing on the show when she was 12 years old, when the show featured hosts like Sebastian Yatra, Fanny Lu, and Andres Zepeda.
Despite not advancing to further stages of the show, Vargas made an impression with viewers, developing a fanbase and cultivating it online through her social media channels, resulting in her performing in local festivals and the like.

She was a student at the University of Quindio. She was studying Business Administration and was in her fifth semester of college. The school published a statement, paying tribute to her life and personality.
“The young and talented student gave a shine to our choral group Coranto thanks to her beautiful voice that made her a standout in numerous events. Nicole was a young woman committed with her academic formation and with the cultural life of our alma mater.”
Vargas’ most recent post was related to her work, showing her dressed in blue and white and promoting Aguardiente Antioqueño, the highest-selling brand of liquor anise in Colombia. Her other posts showed her singing and performing for different crowds, highlighting how much performing mattered to her.
