North West just debuted one of her most memorable fashion moments yet.
The 12-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West—now known as Ye—turned heads after revealing a bold new manicure that’s anything but ordinary. North showed off the edgy look, which featured spikes and piercings layered over glittery light-blue nail polish.
North gave fans a closer look at the dramatic nail art on her Instagram Story on March 12. The long, rectangular nails had a sheer blue finish and were decorated with silver metal studs and tiny rings. Two of the nails even had hot pink writing across them, while her right ring finger stood out with a dangling silver gun charm.
Naturally, she paired the post with music that matched the vibe. The clip played to North’s own track “Piercing on My Hand,” which she dropped in January alongside her dad.
The tween also shared a selfie to her Story, posing with her bedazzled hand partly covering her mouth. In the photo, her striking manicure coordinated perfectly with her signature blue hair. She completed the look with a black fuzzy hat and a black sweatshirt.
And experimenting with bold style choices is nothing new for North. Earlier this year, she tried another eye-catching manicure when she debuted silver piercings on her index and middle fingers.
Her adventurous style doesn’t stop at nails, either. North has also played around with dramatic accessories and looks, including rocking all-black grills, wearing blue contacts, and using a filter that added piercings and tattoos across her eyes, nose and cheeks.
While some fans have raised eyebrows at the young star’s edgy fashion moments, Kim—who also shares kids Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6, with Kanye—has made it clear she supports her daughter expressing herself.
“She’ll be like, ‘Mom, I saw this and I don’t really care if someone says they don’t like my blue hair, or my this or that,’” the SKIMS founder shared with Alex Cooper during an October episode of the podcast Call Her Daddy. “And she’s really confident and is like, ‘I probably wouldn’t be hanging out with those people.’”
In fact, Kim says she admires North’s self-assurance.
“I’m like, ‘Babe, if you want blue hair, it is what it is,’” she continued. “It makes her so happy. I would never take that creativity away from her.”
