North West is proving to be braver than many adults when it comes to piercings. The 12-year-old went viral last year when she showed off a finger piercing, which spread throughout the Internet and sparked widespread criticism. But it’s clear North has no regrets.
On Tuesday, she debuted another finger piercing and now has her middle and index fingers pierced with what appears to be a surface piercing. North revealed the new piercing on Instagram, where she now has over 1.5 million followers. Her account launched last year after spending a couple of years on TikTok through a joint account with Kim Kardashian.

The finger piercing has also inspired a new song. The young producer shared a clip of one of her new beats on Instagram with text that said, “Piercing on my hand hardstyle outro.”
The young artist also shared a video on TikTok, dancing in the car, showing off her piercings, blue hair, and black grill. Earlier in the day, North had shared a photo of hair dye, so it looks like she’s sticking with the blue era for now.
People on TikTok have already quipped that she’s in her “King Kylie” era. While the internet debates whether or not North is “too young” to be pierced, in the state of California, North is legally allowed to get piercings with her mother’s permission and consent. Of course, that hasn’t stopped people from offering unsolicited advice or just straight-up hate toward the preteen.

© @northwestNorth recently clapped back at her adult haters after sharing a few TikTok videos with fake facial piercings, a grill, and full makeup. She reposted a compilation of negative reactions on her TikTok story with the caption “Me every time I see a grown adult talk shit about North West bc of her style and piercings.”
It’s not the first time she’s addressed the criticism. After her finger piercings first went viral, the internet was not kind and aimed at Kim’s parenting. When someone commented that the piercing “broke” their heart, the @kimandnorth account responded directly, writing, “It’s okay.”
While there’s always a valid conversation to be had about how nonstop negativity can affect a child’s confidence or mental development, millions of adults hyper-fixating on a young Black girl’s personal expression should also be questioned.
Back in September, Kim spoke to Complex Style in a TikTok video about North’s self-expression. “She just loves what she loves,” Kim said. “And it’s just really fun to see someone be so creative. And also knows herself so much.”
