Pamela Anderson stole the show as she stepped out in a dazzling orange gown for the amfAR Gala Venezia on Sunday night.
The 59-year-old actress looked radiant as she arrived at the star-studded event at the Hilton Molino Stucky in Venice, where she was honoured with amfAR’s prestigious Award of Courage for her philanthropic work and longstanding support of the fight against AIDS.
Pamela commanded attention in a floor-length satin gown in a vibrant shade of orange, which featured delicate spaghetti straps and a straight neckline.
The fitted design skimmed her figure before falling to the floor, while an extravagant matching satin wrap draped around her arms and extended behind her to create a dramatic train.
She kept her accessories understated with delicate stud earrings, allowing the striking dress to take centre stage. Pamela’s platinum blonde hair was styled into a glamorous retro-inspired bob, with softly curled ends framing her face.
But in keeping with the refreshingly pared-back approach to beauty she has championed in recent years, Pamela appeared to wear little to no makeup, allowing her freckles and natural complexion to shine through.
The actress is in Venice for the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, where her latest movie, Place to Be, is screening out of competition. She stars alongside Taika Waititi and Ellen Burstyn in the Kornél Mundruczó-directed film.
Pamela Anderson’s makeup-free beauty philosophy
Pamela’s appearance is the latest chapter in a beauty evolution that began almost accidentally at Paris Fashion Week in 2023.
“I just went makeup-free to Paris Fashion Week. I didn’t even know anyone would notice,” she subsequently told ELLE, explaining that strangers approached her to thank her. “It wasn’t my intention; I did it authentically for myself.”
For a woman whose bombshell beauty look once became almost as famous as Baywatch itself, the decision represented a dramatic change.
Pamela has explained that she became uncomfortable with the unrealistic standards increasingly promoted through social media.
She was also thinking about younger women in her own family, including her sons’ girlfriends and her nieces, and didn’t want them looking at heavily curated Instagram images and feeling pressured to emulate them.
Her philosophy isn’t anti-makeup, however. Pamela has repeatedly stressed that she still enjoys its glamorous and creative possibilities. Instead, her focus has shifted towards being comfortable with what lies underneath it. “It’s about accepting yourself where you are right now,” she told Vogue.
Pamela Anderson’s surprisingly simple skincare secrets
Despite her glowing complexion, Pamela isn’t devoted to a complicated multi-step beauty regimen. “Moisture is the best anti-aging trick,” she previously told ELLE.
She uses a humidifier in dry environments and keeps rosewater spray in her refrigerator to use as a refreshing toner. “I don’t exfoliate often; I allow my skin to do its thing,” she explained. “I love to use common-sense remedies, nothing fancy.”
Pamela’s routine remains refreshingly straightforward.”I’m not really a regimented person; it’s a couple of products,” she told British Vogue, explaining that she even leaves products in different places around the house rather than sitting down for an elaborate skincare ritual.
More recently, she has been using products from Sonsie, the vegan and cruelty-free skincare company she acquired with her sons Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee.
Her philosophy behind the brand mirrors her wider approach to ageing: care for the skin rather than wage war against it.
Pamela summed it up simply earlier this year: “Sonsie is the glow that comes from being comfortable in your own skin.”
What Pamela Anderson eats
Pamela’s healthy lifestyle extends far beyond her beauty routine. A longtime vegan and animal-rights advocate, she grows much of her own produce in an enormous vegetable garden at her Vancouver Island home. “I am vegan and I’m very active,” she told Dazed when asked about her wellness routine. “I’m kind of an outdoorsy girl, and so I eat really well.”
She’s also a keen gardener and sourdough baker, crediting time spent outdoors with helping her heal after returning to Canada.
“I think my garden was, for me, for healing myself too,” she said. “I just kind of went into my rose garden and my vegetable garden and that was a great space.”
Cooking has become an increasingly important part of her life too.Her cookbook, I Love You: Recipes From the Heart, grew out of the vegetables she raises at home, but Pamela deliberately avoids telling other people what they should eat.
“It’s not a vegan cookbook. I’m not telling other people how to eat,” she told Glamour. “I just have so many vegetables in my garden! I’m always canning and pickling and making sauces and just trying to find cool ways to cook vegetables.”
Her plant-based cooking show, Pamela’s Cooking With Love, follows the same philosophy. “I don’t really even want to say the word ‘vegan’ when it comes to the show,” she explained. “We’re just celebrating vegetables. This is just how we eat.”
Pamela Anderson’s approach to staying healthy at 59
Rather than following an elaborate celebrity fitness regime, Pamela’s approach to wellbeing appears to be remarkably traditional.
She stays active, spends plenty of time outdoors, walks, gardens and cycles, while describing herself as an “outdoorsy girl.”
Her return to Vancouver Island has also allowed her to reconnect with a quieter life away from Hollywood, where gardening, cooking, reading and journaling have become part of her everyday routine.
And as she approaches 60, Pamela appears increasingly uninterested in chasing a younger version of herself. “I think we’re all our own harshest critics,” she told Harper’s Bazaar, advocating instead for a simple beauty routine and products that align with her cruelty-free and environmental values. “Now, I just want to make it okay to walk a red carpet, go to the grocery store, or be on the cover of a magazine without makeup.”
