Paris Jackson didn’t get to enjoy her father Michael Jackson‘s Neverland Ranch. The 28-year-old star, the daughter of the late King of Pop and his second wife, Debbie Rowe, has revealed that she and her siblings, Prince, 29, and Bigi, 24, never got the chance to enjoy the California property’s features, such as the private amusement park, zoo, and movie theater.
Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Paris explained: “I didn’t grow up there. “It was only the first few years of my life that I was there.” In fact, Paris revealed that she and her siblings were told that Neverland’s “attractions” were only to be enjoyed by underprivileged and sick children.
She said, “It was made very, very clear that all of the attractions there were not for us, that did not belong to us. That was for underprivileged children and children who were terminally ill who couldn’t go to Disneyland.”
A strict upbringing
Paris recalled how discipline was a key aspect of her childhood growing up with the Thriller singer, who died at age 50 in 2009. “The cool, like very congruent line throughout my childhood that kind of started there and then just continued on wherever we went, was if you’re good and you do your chores and you do your homework, and if you do the things that you’re supposed to do, then on the weekends you can go see some animals and you can go on some rides and you can go to the movies.”
© GettyThe 28-year-old added, “Same thing with, like, television. We weren’t allowed to watch television or movies and stuff either unless we were studying it for film with the sound off. Or, it was on the weekend if we had done everything we were supposed to.”
The model stressed that she didn’t spend the first seven years of her life at Neverland. “It would’ve been cool, but no. I probably would have grown up to be an a*******.”
‘It just made sense’
Michael famously made his children wear masks and cover their faces when they were out in public, and Paris admits that this was something that didn’t bother her.
© Getty ImagesShe recalled, “It just made sense, because it was like, ‘Oh yeah, if you do this now, then you can go to Chuck-E-Cheese and be normal this weekend because no one will know you are.’ Like, that made sense to me.”
