The film’s director, Matt Shakman, provided more details about the Spanish area where they shot a few of the film’s key scenes. “We recorded in a beautiful building designed by Calatrava (a Spanish architect) in Oviedo. You felt as if the place was designed for our movie. It was so perfect. It’s the vestibule of the Baxter building and also the interior of the Future Foundation.”

Pascal has often discussed his love of Spain, revealing that he has Spanish roots from both sides of his family. In an interview with El Pais in 2017, Pascal said “My grandfather is Basque, and my grandmother is from Mallorca.”

He also shared that he lived in Spain for some time and loved it. “I almost stayed here for the rest of my life,” he said.

Pascal lived in Madrid in the summer of ’96, where he worked at a bar. “I had an aunt who lived on the outskirts of Madrid,” he said in a video on TikTok. “I studied anthropology,” he said, adding some air quotes, “And I traveled across Spain, and I fell in love with Madrid. I almost started my life there. But then I moved back to New York, and I couldn’t leave because I didn’t have the money to leave. That was 20 years ago.”
