Perez Hilton is currently recovering after what police are calling an attempted suicide, and more details of what his life was like leading up to the event have come to light. After spending years covering the lives of celebrities in a less-than-positive way, he revealed that he had been on an apology tour.
The celebrity blogger started his website in 2004 and opened up his guilty conscience during an appearance on Hang Out With Sean Hannity. The interview was conducted on July 14 and released in August before his hospitalization.
In the interview, he said an encounter with Jennifer Aniston in a Los Angeles parking garage changed everything. The Friends star told him three simple words: “I’m a real person.” While he saw it as “entertainment,” he finally realized it’s their lives.
Hilton said that he spent years trying to make amends with celebrities he once targeted and sent private messages to stars like Britney Spears and Khloé Kardashian to apologize. He revealed that Khloé responded to his apology and “was very kind.”

The pressure made the actor come out publicly as a “very content gay man living my life to the fullest” on November 3, 2006. After his statement, Hilton called it a victory, telling the press. “We are so proud (despite the naysayers) in having a hand in bringing about change.”
© GettyHilton later apologized to the actor, who even invited him to contribute to his 2014 memoir Choose Your Own Autobiography. “I wrote a little something in there, and he was very, very gracious,” Hilton said.
The 48-year-old said he stopped his infamous and what he called “cruel” tactic because he realized what he was doing was wrong and that he “could still be fun,” without being “so cheap” and “so cruel.”
He admitted those choices continue to weigh on him. “It’s like my scarlet letter. And it’s very heavy baggage.”
Hilton’s livestream nightmare
Hilton’s comments resurfaced just days after authorities responded to his South Florida home following a livestream where he was repeatedly cutting his body naked with a large knife.
After multiple emergency calls from viewers concerned about his well-being. He was transported to a local hospital, where he continues receiving medical care.

“Our family’s focus right now is on his well-being,” the statement read. “We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.”
The family added that Hilton is now “able to communicate, which has given our family hope,” while noting that they are still waiting for additional updates.

The statement concluded by saying the family’s highest priority is helping the children heal and regain a sense of normalcy.
