A man claiming to have been detained and questioned over the “abduction” of Nancy Guthrie has spoken out.
Carlos Palazuelos says he was the man pulled over and taken in for questioning on February 10 over the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother.
Police confirmed an individual had been detained “during a traffic stop south of Tucson,” and CBS News said the person’s home in Rio Rico, Arizona — which is approximately 12 miles from the Mexican border — was being searched under a court order.
However, once released, Carlos – who was identified by a member of his family — spoke to reporters outside his home and denied he had anything to do with Nancy’s disappearance.
In the video above, Carlos said he was clueless as to why he was being followed by police and claimed he was held “against my will,” and not read his rights for hours.
When asked if he knows Nancy Guthrie, he said: “No, that’s the problem, I don’t know anything.”
Carlos said the police didn’t initially ask him any questions but searched two of his vehicles before returning them.
He said his family are “all in shock,” over the situation, as he is. “I hope you find the suspect, because I’m not it,” he said, before claiming the police damaged his home as they searched it for evidence of a crime.
Carlos told reporters he was “done,” and didn’t want to answer any further questions before heading inside.
His questioning came after FBI director Kash Patel tweeted four photos of an armed, masked suspect attempting to enter Nancy’s home, along with a video. See it here.
