The countdown is on for the Prince of Wales’ firstborn son, Prince George, who will be attending Eton College this September. The 13-year-old royal will become a pupil at the prestigious institution in a matter of weeks, and the private school has already started preparing for their new royal addition. Fresh photographs taken from outside the school show that new ‘No photography’ signs have been put up on fences outside to ensure the media and members of the public do not invade the privacy of pupils.

We know that the Prince and Princess of Wales are keen to keep Prince George, and his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, shielded from the limelight as much as possible. Although they accompany the couple on special royal occasions and a handful of engagements, privacy is very important to them and they want their children to have a relatively ‘normal’ upbringing.

New No Photography signs have been put up by Eton College outside some parts of the famous Boarding School in Eton, Windsor, Berkshire.

When Prince William attended Eton College, a deal was struck with the press that they would be afforded arranged shoots with William if they left him alone the rest of the time, and this could well be a similar set-up for Prince George. The Prince of Wales has previously said that he “really enjoyed being able to go about Eton as just another student.”

Protection is also key for the college, as they often have high-profile parents who send their children there. Even within the walls, privacy for each boy is respected, as they are all granted their own individual rooms – with no shared dormitories. The official website explains: “From the very beginning, each boy has his own study-bedroom: there are no shared rooms. Boys thus have their own private space and are required to organise themselves and to develop self-discipline in meeting tasks and deadlines.” So, while some boarding schools offer the chance for boys to share with their peers, George will be granted a single room, like everyone else.

Not George’s first boarding experience

While this new chapter will no doubt be a big deal for the teenager, it is not his first time experiencing life away from his family home. While at Lambrook School, which is also where his siblings go, George has dabbled with flexible boarding, Prince William has previously revealed. Now, however, he will only be home for weekends and holidays. Luckily, the school is only a 16-minute drive away from the family’s beautiful home, Forest Lodge.
