Prince Jacques of Monaco looked very professional as he joined his father Prince Albert for a rare father-son outing this week.

The hereditary Prince of Monaco, 11, inaugurated a new exhibition at the Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies, Monaco’s Museum of Stamps and Coins, at the Terrasses de Fontvieille, to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Dressed in a smart blue suit to match his father, Jacques took part in the entire tour, signing his name in the guest book, before cancelling the First Day stamp cover, as is traditional.

With his blonde hair and neat appearance, Jacques was reminiscent of Britain’s Prince George during the polished outing. Both Princes will one day rule their kingdoms.

Sharing the visit on Instagram, the Palace wrote: “On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Museum of Stamps and Coins, Prince Albert II and Crown Prince Jacques have inaugurated an exhibition titled “From the Monetary Museum to the Museum of Stamps and Coins”, inviting the public to dive into the heart of this institution’s history and heritage.”

Prince Albert joins the British Royal Family at Commonwealth service

The museum was founded in 1996 by Prince Rainier III, a passionate philatelist (lover of stamp collecting). The new exhibition, developed in collaboration with the palace, runs until 26 April and will be open to the public.

Stepping up as heir

Prince Jacques, who also has the title Marquis of Baux, is the heir presumptive to the throne, even though he was born two minutes after his twin sister, Princess Gabriella. This is because of the male-favoured primogeniture rules in the Monégasque royal family.

Jacques is becoming increasingly involved in the official duties of the principality, and his appearance at the Stamp Museum highlighted the importance of the connection with the royal family. He has previously joined his parents, Albert and Princess Charlene, for official visits to Grimaldi sites in Monaco, Brittany, and Aveyron.

Despite the tiny size of the principality, Monaco has one of the oldest royal families in the world.

Princess Charlene joined her husband Albert at the glittering event, alongside his sister, Princess Caroline of Hanover. The Sporting Monte-Carlo was transformed into a silver space shuttle, while the Salle des Etoiles was adorned with portholes that changed colour according to the planets.

Charlene was the star of the show in a silver gown from Elie Saab, featuring a one-shoulder cape design and cascading sequins.
