Prince Louis is growing up! The Prince and Princess of Wales‘ youngest child turned 7 on April 23. The royal couple celebrated their son’s birthday with a new adorable photo of Louis, dressed in a checkered shirt, green sweater and jeans, sitting on a log and showing off his missing front teeth. The picture was taken by Josh Shinner in Norfolk earlier in this month.
“Wishing Prince Louis a very Happy 7th Birthday! 🎂,” the caption alongside the photo reads.
Hours after the image was released, Kensington Palace surprised followers with a behind-the-scenes video of Louis’ birthday photo. In one clip, the little Prince can be heard telling someone off-camera, “I can jump down from here.” Seconds later, he was filmed jumping off a tree log.
The video was simply captioned: “📽️🎞️ Seven today!”
Louis also received a special birthday wish from the royal family’s official social media accounts. Sharing the Prince’s seventh birthday portrait, the royal family’s X account wrote: “Happy Birthday to Prince Louis! 🎈🎉.”
The Princess of Wales has revealed in the past that she has a sweet tradition for her children’s birthdays. “I love making the cake,” Catherine said in 2019 on the BBC’s A Berry Royal Christmas special. “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ‘til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing, and I make far too much. But I love it.”
Louis is the youngest of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ three children. He was born on April 23, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital. The 7-year-old Prince is currently fourth in line to the throne, after his older siblings and father.
Louis’ birthday came one day before the start of Lambrook School’s summer term. While Louis and his family did not join King Charles and Queen Camilla at St. George’s Chapel for the traditional Easter Matins service on Sunday, the Waleses were reportedly spotted attending service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham with Catherine’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.
Ahead of Easter, a source told The Mirror that Prince William had informed his father of his intention to miss the service to “enjoy some extended time as a family over Easter.” The source added, “They are choosing to spend time together as a family before the children go back to school.”
