Prince William and Princess Kate are on the hunt for a person with “tact and discretion” to join their team based at Kensington Palace. The Prince and Princess of Wales want to hire a Digital Content Creator to deliver “storytelling” across their social media channels and website.
In the advert shared on the royal vacancies website, the permanent, full-time role involves “ideating and delivering creative, integrated digital storytelling which showcases the work of TRHs The Prince and Princess of Wales to digital audiences”. This will almost certainly include working across their Instagram account of more than 17.2 million followers.
The position, which is listed as being 37.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday, will see the right candidate “capturing videography” on royal engagements and “around other peak moments and events”. There may be the “occasional” out of hours work, according to the listing.
Perhaps hinting at the direction Prince William, 43, and Princess Kate, 44, are headed in, the role will have a “particular focus on how to appeal to younger audiences through the use of organic content”. There may be a requirement to work with the other Royal Households too, like that of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Essential skills include experience in content creation and social media channel management, as well as the ability to capture high quality videography and photography. Notably, the advert lists qualities such as being “calm and diplomatic” and the “ability to exercise tact and discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times” as being of high importance.
Team changes
The expansion of the couple’s team comes at a challenging time for the royal family. Last week, the Prince’s uncle Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office in connection with the Epstein files, and there remains an ongoing police investigation.
Earlier this month, the Prince and Princess of Wales made an exciting new hire in their communications department, who the prospective Digital Content Creator will likely be working closely with. Rosie Trainor, who previously worked as a Senior Account Manager at Freuds, is joining their Royal Household as a Senior Communications Officer, taking up the position this month.
The new appointment comes as part of a wider shake-up and follows a string of new hires. Sarah Henwood joined this month as the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales’ new CEO, taking over from Amanda Berry, who stepped into the coveted role in June 2022, having previously served as chief executive of BAFTA for over 20 years.
Busy agenda
It comes after their evening out at the BAFTAs on Sunday. Inside London’s Royal Festival Hall, there was no formal announcement when Prince William and the Princess of Wales took their seats, as witnessed by HELLO! on the night. In fact, their arrival was somewhat understated, with many guests only realising they were in the room as they moved through the aisle.
There was a noticeable buzz followed as heads turned to catch a glimpse of the royal couple. Later, before the broadcast began, BAFTA Chair Sara Putt referenced William from the stage, prompting cameras to pan towards the pair and a warm round of applause to break out. He appeared slightly flushed as Kate turned towards him with a smile.
