Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s ‘alternative’ Easter plans without the royal family

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are making “alternative” plans for Easter Sunday, after it was revealed they won’t be attending the royals’ traditional service.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are confirmed for the church ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, with the Prince and Princess of Wales and other members of the royal family also expected to attend.

It’s likely that the Princesses, who have been lying low since the publication of Epstein files in January, will quietly be celebrating the day at home with their families, as HELLO! understands they are making “alternative” plans for Easter this year.

The two daughters of Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor still have grace-and-favour homes – potential options for where they will be spending the day.

Beatrice, who is married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, has her main home in the Cotswolds, but still has an apartment in St James’s Palace in London. They have two daughters, Sienna, three, and Athena, one. Beatrice is also stepmother to Edo’s son Wolfie.

Princess Beatrice’s royal role ‘could be questioned’ in the future

Eugenie has Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace, though she and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, split their stays in the UK with time at their Portuguese residence. They also have two children: August, five, and Ernest, two.

What has the royal family said?

There has been no official statement from Buckingham or Kensington Palace about Beatrice and Eugenie.

However, HELLO! understands that the York sisters have made alternative plans for Easter, in agreement with their uncle, King Charles. They are very much still seen as part of the family and will be seen at family celebrations in the future.

The sisters joined the rest of the royal family for the traditional church service at Sandringham at Christmas, a sign of continued goodwill with their other family members.

Easter celebrations in previous years

Last year, Eugenie enjoyed a quiet Easter with her sons after attending the Windsor service. She shared a sweet picture with her youngest son, Ernest, exploring by a lake, writing “Happy Easter”, alongside a chick emoji. The mother-of-two looked stylish in a long yellow summer’s dress – a more casual look than her formal church attire.

In 2024, she helped open the Little Egg Hunt, a live Easter trail created by artists, with the Elephant Family charity, of which King Charles and Queen Camilla are the joint royal presidents.

In 2021, Eugenie shared a stunning photo of a blossom tree with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and baby August. “Wishing everyone a Happy Easter 🌼🐣🌼 and a blossoming Spring,” she wrote. During the coronavirus lockdown the year before, the Princess shared a message inspired by her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

She said: “Happy Easter 🐣 to you. To quote Her Majesty’s Easter message: ‘May the living flame of the Easter hope be a steady guide as we face our future’.”

Princess Beatrice does not have a public Instagram account.
