Just days before her 38th birthday on 8 August, Princess Beatrice has broken her cover for a low-key shopping trip to Fortnum & Mason in London.
Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor‘s eldest daughter was spotted dressing in a casual high-street outfit as she blended in with crowds for her outing on 30 July. Choosing to flex her sustainable style credentials, Beatrice opted for one of her previous purchases from Kitri Studio, a deep blue midi dress with balloon sleeves and a belted waist.
The ‘Joni’ dress retails for £137.50, and Beatrice had previously worn it for a trip to Bluebird restaurant in London in May 2023. At the time, she teamed it with a black cross-body Celine bag and casual trainers, but Beatrice dressed it up with £50 Zara suede ballet flats for her most recent outing.
With her red hair left loose, falling in gentle waves past her shoulders, and her makeup kept minimal, Beatrice ensured she attracted minimal attention.
Different birthday ahead
The royal’s decision to keep a low profile comes in the wake of her parents’ ties with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, which resulted in their eviction from their former family home, Royal Lodge, in February 2026.
It is thought that since so much has changed in Princess Beatrice’s private life over the past twelve months, she could have a very different approach to her birthday this year.
Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of The House of York, told the Daily Mail that Beatrice’s 38th birthday “will not be an easy one” due to “the state of her title, her marriage and her business activities.”
He added: “Much has changed for the York family since Beatrice’s last birthday. Her father remains under, in effect, house arrest in Norfolk with the possibility of being charged with sharing confidential information, her mother probably still in hiding abroad.”
Keeping a low profile
Princess Beatrice’s last major public outing took place at her cousin Peter Phillips’ wedding to NHS nurse Harriet Sperling at All Saints’ Church in Kemble in June. She joined her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, as well as her sister, Princess Eugenie.
However, she has seemingly missed out on another big event among her social circle. Not only was she absent from Royal Ascot, one of the most prominent fixtures on the royal social calendar, but she also didn’t appear to attend her friend Alice Naylor-Leyland’s epic 40th birthday celebrations in Tuscany.
