As a former Olympic swimmer, Princess Charlene of Monaco is one of Europe’s sportiest royals. But as she made an appearance at the women’s curling tournament at the Winter Olympics in Italy last weekend, she turned the event into a fashion show alongside her lookalike daughter.
The princess was joined not only by Princess Gabriella, 11, but by her husband, Prince Albert, who competed in the bobsleigh at five consecutive Winter Olympics between 1988 and 2002, and son, Prince Jacques, as they arrived at the Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio. The 48-year-old royal donned an elegant white wool coat with an oversized collar.
The Monaco royals embrace winter chic at the Olympics
Charlene’s coat was paired with a roll-neck sweater in the same (rather apt) ice white hue, which elongated her silhouette and added extra warmth. On the bottom half, she donned wide-leg black trousers and carried a brown leather tote bag.
Meanwhile, Princess Gabriella was her mini style twin in a caramel-hued coat. Like her mother’s, the young royal’s coat featured puffer-style quilting, which is perfect for observing winter sports as the insulated chambers trap air warmed by body heat to keep you nice and toasty.
Her cute outerwear also featured a faux fur collar for added warmth, and she wore jeans to keep the look young and playful. Princess Charlene has been growing her hair out since the end of 2025, and it seems Gabriella is following suit as her locks looked longer than ever.
Long hair for the win
The youngster let her hair, which is a warm chestnut brown colour, tumble down her back, while her mother swept her ever-growing blonde tresses into a chic updo, allowing pieces to fall in perfect curls around her face for added framing.
Charlene wore a near-identical hair look (she omitted a hairband on Saturday) during her attendance at the 2026 Ceremony of the Sainte-Devote honouring Monaco’s patron saint. Suzie McGill, a hairstylist who has over 30 years of experience in the industry, told us at the time: “The style is minimal but impactful, balancing structure and ease.
“The slicked-back approach emphasises her facial features while keeping the overall finish clean and contemporary. It’s a versatile look, polished enough for formal events but modern and wearable.”
Charlene and Gabriella’s twinning moment
Though we are sure that as Gabriella grows up, she will start to define her style identity for herself, for now, the little princess is taking cues from her mother. She copied Charlene in faux fur in December, when the duo stepped out for the official opening of Monaco’s Christmas Village.
While Gabriella was dressed in the ‘Kids Leopard Print Jacket in Stone’ by French luxury fashion designer Chloé, Charlene donned a chocolate brown number with a furry collar.
Of the 11-year-old’s mini-me style, Angela Kyte, a luxury stylist with a decade of experience in the fashion industry, told us: “Princess Gabriella’s leopard-print faux fur jacket is a charming way to bring texture and personality into winter dressing. The soft stone palette keeps the print elegant rather than loud, while the relaxed cut, tan trims and knee-length suede boots make the look feel cosy, polished and age-appropriate.”
