Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden will be celebrating a decade of marriage the day their daughter Princess Ines is baptized. On the eve of their tenth wedding anniversary, the Prince Couple’s Instagram account shared a video featuring photos from Sofia and Carl Philip’s royal wedding, including snapshots of the flowers, the bride’s veil and the newlyweds sharing a kiss.
“Tomorrow we celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. On June 13, 2015 we got married❤️,” they captioned the post (translated to English). “We are so grateful for the joy and warmth that met us that day and has continued throughout these ten years. Now we have four wonderful children and tomorrow we are christening our little Ines🌸.”
Princess Sofia and Carl Philip met through mutual friends at a lunch. When they met again at a later time, “it clicked,” according to Sofia. “We took a liking to each other quite quickly,” Carl Philip shared, translated to English, in a previous interview. The couple’s engagement was announced in June 27, 2014, and on June 13, 2015, Sofia married King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia‘s only son.
Speaking to Swedish channel TV 4 ahead of their wedding, Carl Philip said (via HELLO! ), “I don’t think I knew the magic of love before I met Sofia,” adding, “But ever since I met her, I’ve seen how love can change a person.”
Over the last decade, the Prince and Princess have become parents of four. The couple’s first child, Prince Alexander, was born in 2016, followed by their second, Prince Gabriel, in 2017, their third, Prince Julian, in 2021 and their fourth, Princess Ines, this past February.
Sofia told Vogue Scandinavia last year that she “always, always, always dreamt of a family.” The Princess shared, “It’s one of my biggest goals in life. Not everyone has that – I had that.”
“Both me and my husband come from a family of five – with three kids – so we thought that that would be a good number, and we felt quite satisfied with that,” Sofia continued. “But, gratefully, there’s a bonus on the way. We feel very humble and grateful. It was maybe not in the plan, but now we are very, very excited. Especially the kids.”
