Kurt Russell is one proud grandfather! The Hollywood star is notoriously private when it comes to social media, but couldn’t resist commenting on a new photo of his beloved granddaughter Rio, 12.
The talented pre-teen – who is an aspiring dancer – was pictured alongside her dad, Oliver Hudson, during a trip to the farmer’s market.
The father-daughter duo co-ordinated in baseball caps, with Rio holding up the peace sign. “Sunday farmers market with my ladybug!” Oliver captioned the picture.
Kurt was one of the first to comment, writing: “Rio making dad look sharp!” Other followers remarked on just how much Rio resembled her aunt, Kate Hudson. “She looks so much like your sister Kate,” one wrote, while another added: “She looks like her Aunt Kate!”
Rio’s a star in the making
Oliver recently opened up to HELLO! about his youngest child and her aspirations to step into the entertainment industry in the future.
Describing Rio as a “pure performer”, he told us that he would be following his mom, Goldie Hawn’s advice when it came to his daughter, waiting until she is 18 before allowing her to appear in any movies.
“My mother with Kate said, ‘You’re not going to do anything but plays until you’re 18-years-old, then you can go off and do your stuff.’ So I’m following in those footsteps, similarly to my mother,” Oliver told HELLO!
“I’m saying, ‘Go be in plays, be an amazing dancer on the dance team, be you, and we’ll figure all of that stuff out when you’re a bit older.’ To subject her to whatever the rigors might be of being a child actor… we’ve seen it go great, we’ve seen it be detrimental, and why risk that? If you’ve got it, you’ve got it, you can wait a few years.”
One talented family
Oliver also opened up about his sister Kate’s numerous nominations for her performance in Song Sung Blue. “It’s been a whirlwind, honestly,” he said.
“Especially for her, obviously, having to do the whole dog and pony show This is nuts, and she hasn’t experienced this since Almost Famous [in 2001] – but now we’re all older and we get to experience it with her and for her to be celebrated is incredible.”
Family life
Oliver shares Rio, along with sons, Wilder and Bodhi, with wife Erinn Bartlett. The family live in LA, close to Goldie and Kurt. Kate also lives nearby with fiancé Danny Fujikawa and her children. She’s a doting mom to Ryder – who is currently residing in New York City while attending NYU – along with Bingham and Rani.
It’s clear the family are incredibly close, and enjoy nothing more than spending time together. While based in LA, they also spend a lot of time in Aspen, Colorado, where Goldie and Kurt have a home.
