Princess Isabella of Denmark looked every inch a Princess at a celebration for her upcoming 18th birthday. Queen Mary and King Frederik‘s older daughter attended a birthday performance at The Royal Theatre’s Old Stage in Copenhagen on Tuesday dressed in a sparkling full skirt dress by Jesper Høvring. The Danish Princess completed her stunning look with an elegant updo and diamond earrings.
Isabella was joined by her parents Queen Mary and King Frederik, and siblings, Crown Prince Christian, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, at the celebration on April 15. The Princess’ paternal grandmother Queen Margrethe II and cousins Count Nikolai and Count Felix were also in attendance, along with the King’s maternal aunts, Princess Benedikte of Denmark and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece.
Per the Royal House, the performance “consisted of a varied program, where the theme of young feelings served as the common thread throughout the evening and was expressed in both repertoire and artistic choices.” “Dance at the Gym (Mambo)” from West Side Story was among the songs performed at the event. According to the Royal House, over 1,000 young people between the ages of 17 to 24 were in the audience.
The event on Tuesday was the second official event marking Isabella’s birthday. Four days earlier, the city of Aarhus hosted one for the Princess at Aarhus City Hall. In a speech at the celebration, Isabella said (translated to English), “Dear Mayor, dear Aarhus, dear everyone who has come together today. Thank you so much for a very special birthday celebration. It makes me really happy to be celebrated in a city that has great meaning to me and my family. Here I have celebrated Christmas and Easter, taken walks in the garden and by the water, and enjoyed myself in the old town since I was little.”
“I have many good memories from Aarhus, today I have another. And there will definitely be more after that. Thank you for the dance and music, the show and the cake. I have pursued many hobbies myself, and it has been a shortcut to joy, friendship and community for me. I am sure it is for you too,” she continued. “Thank you for the birthday song, a whole book of greetings and for the beautiful piece of jewelry. The fact that you have chosen to celebrate me, and that so many have come together, makes me happy and touched. You should know that it means a lot to me.”
Isabella is Queen Mary and King Frederik’s second child. She will turn 18 on Monday, April 21.
