Record $90 Million Pot and $5 Million Singles Payout

The US Open 2025 is making headlines at Flushing Meadows in New York with the largest prize fund ever seen in tennis. The tournament, which began on August 18th and runs until September 8th, features a record $90 million in total prize money, with both the men’s and women’s singles champions set to take home the largest checks in Grand Slam history.

The tournament will award $5 million each to the men’s and women’s singles winners, as part of the $90 million prize pool. The winners’ payout marks a 39 percent increase from the 2024 prize of $3.6 million. 

Overall, the total purse is up 20 percent compared to the $75 million awarded last year.

Jannik Sinner, 24, and Aryna Sabalenka, 27, who won the US Open men’s and women’s singles titles in 2024, each took home $3.6 million.

In 2025, finalists in the men’s and women’s tournaments will earn $2,500,000, semi-finalists $1,260,000, and quarter-finalists $660,000.Players who reach the round of 16 matches will earn $400,000. Those who make the round of 32 take home $237,000, while players advancing to the round of 64 receive $154,000.

Just qualifying for the main draw guarantees a six-figure payday of $110,000. Doubles payouts remain lower than singles but have also reached record levels.

For the first time, doubles champions will earn $1,000,000, while runners-up collect $500,000.

Semi-finalists receive $250,000, and quarter-finalists $125,000.In the round of 16, which is also where mixed doubles payouts begin, players earn $75,000.

Round of 32 players take home $45,000, and those who make it into the doubles tournament receive $30,000.

A spokesperson for the tournament explained the record-setting increases, in a statement, “The US Open has made a deliberate and concerted effort to ensure double-digit percentage increases from 2024 in all rounds of all events for all players, while at the same time significantly increasing the percentage of prize money for athletes playing deep into the singles draws.”
