Reese Witherspoon celebrated her 50th birthday in style over the weekend with a fun-filled bash complete with special moments shared with her three children, Ava, Deacon and Tennessee. The Legally Blonde star’s eldest son, Deacon, took to Instagram to share photos of the celebrations on Sunday.
The 22-year-old gave his nearly 500,000 Instagram followers a glimpse of his mother’s Western-themed birthday party, and shared a video from the night showing the star posing for pictures with her three kids.
Her two sons stuck to the theme as they were seen with cowboy hats and buttoned shirts, whilst the icon herself stunned in a sparkly, fringed mini dress. Deacon also shared a framed black-and-white picture of him hugging and smiling at Reese.
He captioned the post: “Happy birthday 2 [sic] my mom, who happens to be the goat.”
Reese’s ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, commented a smiling emoji below in a show of support for his family. The pair split in 2008 after nine years of marriage, and Reese also shares her 13-year-old son, Tennessee Toth, with her ex-husband, Jim Toth.
Ava, her lookalike daughter, also acknowledged her mom’s birthday with a sweet photo from the event shared on her Instagram story. She wrote: “Happy 50th Mama! We are so blessed to love & be loved by you & to feel the warmth of your sunshine in our lives.”
Ava contrasted her mother’s look in a black lace fitted dress, accessorized with a statement black belt.

Reese also took to her own social media page to reflect on her milestone birthday. “Turning 50 today…just thought I would show you some highlights. Gotta laugh every day you can,” she wrote. One commenter said: “You are fabulous at 50 just like you were at 40 and at 30,” while another added: “You are a light.”
While she welcomed her birthday with humor, Reese’s post just days prior was more introspective. “I turn 50 on Sunday, and I can’t help but reflect on the years that shaped me into who I am today. Feeling grateful.”
The pictures took fans through each decade of the blonde beauty’s life, with anecdotes of every chapter.
She wrote that in her 20s, she was “ambitious, anxious, and [had] my first taste of fame”. The star said she was “scared of everything, but I kept going”. Her 30s, she claimed, were a time for “finding her voice, balancing motherhood, shaping my path”.
40 brought Reese her “first deep exhale,” she added. As for her 50s, the mother of three wrote: “There’s so much still to do, and I’m excited for all of it. More stories to tell, more women to cheer on, and more ways to keep learning and growing.”
