Bad Bunny’s record-breaking Super Bowl LX halftime show is still making headlines. The singer paid a heartfelt tribute to his native Puerto Rico and the rest of America, beyond the US, making for a show-stopping, cultural, and historical performance. Ricky Martin was one of the guest stars who took the stage, and after the show, he shared some behind-the-scenes moments that weren’t seen on the Levi’s Stadium stage.
On February 10, the singer posted a video on Instagram recapping that unforgettable day. “Minutes before and minutes after. Thanks for all the support, family,” he wrote, sharing footage captured by his publicist and friend Róndine Alcalá.
The clip begins with Ricky boarding a private jet en route to Santa Clara, California, the city hosting the famous sporting event. To look his best, he stopped by the hair salon before heading to the stadium. “Thanks, Benito, love you so much,” he said with a big smile, referring to Bad Bunny by his real name, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio.
Once at Levi’s Stadium, the singer-actor went through makeup and wardrobe to finalize the last details of his performance. The video shows his excitement moments before taking the stage, walking alongside dancers, musicians, and the rest of the crew. Of course, the clip includes the moment Ricky delivered a passionate performance of “Lo Que Le Pasó A Hawái,” one of the hits from Bad Bunny’s GRAMMY-winning album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos.
After stepping off stage, Ricky was greeted with applause, cheers, and more music backstage, keeping the celebratory energy going. Moments later, once the show ended, he met up with Bad Bunny for one of the most touching moments: a heartfelt hug full of warmth and gratitude that lasted several seconds. “You put Puerto Rico very high,” someone can be heard saying.
Then, two of the most important people in Martin’s life appeared on camera: his 17-year-old twins, Valentino and Matteo. They watched their father’s performance live and, after reuniting with him backstage, didn’t hesitate to congratulate him. Ricky hugged and kissed them affectionately, while their faces beamed with joy and pride.
Ricky Martin’s heartfelt thanks to Bad Bunny
On the same day as the Super Bowl performance, Ricky shared photos with Bad Bunny and Lady Gaga, who was also a guest in Benito’s show. He expressed sincere gratitude to his fellow Puerto Rican for inviting him to be part of the historic event. “They need to give me a few hours to process the tsunami of emotions I’m feeling. Thank you @badbunnypr, thank you @ladygaga, thank you @nfl @rocnation and @applemusic,” he wrote.
Ricky’s message added to one he had shared days earlier, celebrating Bad Bunny’s Grammy wins, including Album of the Year. “Benito, brother, seeing you win three Grammys, one for Album of the Year with a fully Spanish-language production, moved me deeply,” Ricky wrote in a letter published on February 3 in El Nuevo Día, later sharing it in his Instagram Stories.
“Not just as an artist, but as a Puerto Rican who has performed around the world carrying your language, your accent, and your story… I know what it means to succeed without forgetting where you come from. I know how hard it is, the cost, and the sacrifices when you decide not to change just because others ask you to,” he added.
