Rihanna is going all out for her birthday. The singer and businesswoman celebrated her 38th birthday this past Friday at a surprise party in Santa Monica organized by her partner, A$AP Rocky.
In paparazzi photos, Rihanna and Rocky were seen leaving one of their favorite restaurants, Giorgio Baldi, an Italian place they often frequent that hosted this year’s party.
For the outing, Rihanna mixed a vintage accessory with one of the trendiest fabrics of the season. She wore a tight black gown made up of semitransparent fabrics, pairing it with a short brown fur coat. She completed the outfit with some open-toe sandals and styled her hair loose and wavy, looking stunning for the occasion.
The coat is a vintage Gucci item that was a part of the 1999 Fall/Winter collection, back when Tom Ford was leading the brand.
Rocky wore a red plaid button-down shirt that he paired with cream colored pants, black loafers, and sunglasses. They were spotted alongside their security detail.
Rihanna and Rocky through the years
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have one of the entertainment world’s most notorious relationships. The pair, which began quietly dating in 2020, often shares how supportive they are of each other and their passions, whether that’s music, fashion, or Rihanna’s brand Fenty.
In a chat with Interview Magazine, Rihanna revealed that the two were careful when they first started dating, especially since they had known each other and had been friends for years.
“We’ve known each other for a long time. I’ve seen him in relationships. He’s seen me in relationships. We’ve seen each other outside of relationships,” she said. “We knew what we’re capable of, and the trouble that we could bring to each other’s lives. We can make or break each other’s hearts. And so, we started dating with a lot of caution.”
One of the reasons why their relationship got serious was the COVID pandemic. “COVID sped up our relationship, which I felt like god knew we needed because we were going to start a family,” she explained. “And had it not been for COVID, we would’ve taken a lot more time to get comfortable with each other, to even know that we were ready.”
The pair now share three kids: RZA, 3, Riot, 2, and Rocki, who was born this past September.
