Romeo Beckham is turning to tattoos to celebrate family amid an ongoing rift with his older brother, Brooklyn. The 23-year-old model and former soccer player unveiled a new “Family” tattoo on the back of his neck in a black-and-white photo shared on Instagram Stories on Sunday, February 8.
The word is etched in italic script above a cross and angel wings tattoo he first got in 2022, continuing a theme of meaningful body art. His Instagram repost of the London-based tattoo artist Jesus’s post included a red heart alongside the caption, “@romeobeckham Family.”
The heartfelt tribute comes in the wake of Brooklyn Peltz Beckham’s very public feud with their parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
Brooklyn, 26, recently accused his parents of trying to sabotage his marriage to Nicola Peltz Beckham, claiming in a January 19 Instagram statement, “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design,” and adding, “My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one.”
Though David and Victoria have yet to respond publicly, Nicola’s father, billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz, addressed the situation with measured humor during a Wall Street Journal event on February 3. “Has my family been in the press lately? I haven’t noticed that at all,” he quipped.
He went on to give a little fatherly advice. “My advice is to stay the hell out of the press. How much good did that do?” He also affirmed his support for his daughter and Brooklyn. “My daughter and the Beckhams are a whole other story. That’s not for coverage here today, but I’ll tell you my daughter’s great, my son-in-law Brooklyn is great, and I look forward to them having a long, happy marriage together.”
Romeo’s new tattoo is not his first nod to family. His extensive collection includes a tribute to his sister, Harper, 14, the word “Brotherhood” on his leg honoring his siblings, and a cross with angel wings accompanied by the phrase “Lead with love,” inspired by his father, David. This latest piece positions him in contrast to Brooklyn, who has been modifying or removing tattoos once dedicated to their family.
Brooklyn, whose body is covered in over 100 tattoos, had ink honoring his parents and siblings. Photos published by The Sun show his “DAD” tattoo on his right arm in the midst of laser removal. An insider said, “He wanted it gone,” while noting that the writing beneath, the nickname “Love you, Bust,” a nod to what David called him, was fading.
Brooklyn also recently altered a tattoo that once read “mama’s boy” to surround it with floral imagery, possibly inspired by Nicola’s wedding bouquet, and modified another tattoo dedicated to his mother, Victoria, transforming the heart-and-flower motif into one featuring a snake.
Meanwhile, Romeo’s younger brother, Cruz, 20, is also joining in on the ink action. Tattoo artist Jesus shared a clip on Instagram of Cruz seemingly getting the initial “J,” a tribute to his girlfriend, Jackie Apostel. Apostel, 30, herself got a tattoo reading “Providence” on her ribcage during the visit, with Cruz sitting beside her.
Fans quickly took note of Romeo’s new neck tattoo, some applauding the fine line work, others commenting on the “funny timing” amid the family drama. One Instagram user wrote, “Statement piece fr,” while others pointed out the timing as symbolic in light of Brooklyn’s cover-ups.
As the feud continues, insiders told People that David and Victoria hope to reconcile with Brooklyn, despite his stated desire to distance himself. “David and Victoria love Brooklyn and are afraid of losing their son,” a source said. “They would take him back in a minute.”
For now, Romeo’s “Family” tattoo serves as both a personal tribute and a public declaration of his values. With Cruz adding to his own collection, the Beckham siblings are showing that even amid friction, family remains at the center of their stories, etched in ink, literally and figuratively.
