Rory McIlroy and his family have a new place to call ‘home’ after the golfer made a $12 million decision to uproot his wife and daughter.

The Northern Irishman relocated with his wife, Erica Stoll, and their daughter, Poppy, to the UK a few months after he won the Masters last year.

The family of three swapped their $22 million mansion on Jupiter Island, Florida, for a six-bedroom gated house in the Wentworth estate, close to the exclusive Wentworth Club golf course in Surrey, last July.

Rory purchased the property in 2023 but spent 18 months renovating it into an even grander home with an extension and a complete revamp of the grounds.

Rory revealed that their new abode was the first place he visited after his grand slam victory at Augusta last April.

“Straight after Augusta, we travelled over to see the house as it was going through the finishing touches,” he told Telegraph Sport.

“It was fun to see, and we could have stayed in it, but we wanted to get over to Holywood,” he added, referring to his hometown in Belfast.

The move no doubt delighted Erica as she was not a fan of living in the intense South Florida heat.

Rory revealed that the native New Yorker wanted to spend more time in the UK during a conversation with German golfer Martin Kaymer on the Netflix docuseries Full Swing.

Martin recalled the time he bumped into Erica, who expressed her frustration with the scorching climate.

“I saw her [Erica] at a Starbucks once, and she said, ‘I really don’t like the sun.’ I said, ‘Your state’s called the Sunshine State, right?'”

Rory added: “If it was up to [Erica], she wouldn’t move to England straightaway, but she definitely wants to spend more time there.”

Erica got her wish as their Wentworth home is now said to be their primary base, although they are expected to keep their South Florida mansion, which Rory bought from golf legend Ernie Els in 2017, where he will stay while playing on the PGA Tour.

The Jupiter Island property was purchased for an impressive $11 million in 2012; however, it has reportedly since doubled in value.

The house sits on 2.5 acres of land and boasts nine bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a home theatre, an infinity pool, and, of course, plenty of greenery for Rory to practise his swing.  The 13,000-square-foot home also has a state-of-the-art gym, a six-car garage, and tennis courts on site.

Rory has an impressive property portfolio. Not only does he own homes on Jupiter Island and in England, but he also has a sprawling home in La Quinta, California, plus an apartment in New York City, and a villa in the United Arab Emirates.
