Ryan Gosling is using his power for good. As he promotes his latest film, “Project Hail Mary,” the actor has been featured on numerous programs and talk shows, including “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” where he sent a shout-out to a Florida baker that caused an uproar of orders.
Gosling praised Donna Richards, the dresser of Meyer’s show. He also namechecked his sister, who owns a bakery in Tallahassee, Florida, with Gosling praising their Pop-Tarts. “If you wonder how you go from, like, Beavis and Butt-Head to a Cyclops in two minutes, it’s Donna who makes that happen,” Gosling said, referring to his work on Saturday Night Live, where he’s showcased all sorts of looks and costumes.
“And Donna’s sister,” he continued. “Can I mention her bakery? She owns a bakery in Florida, in Tallahassee, and they make the most incredible Pop-Tarts. You have to order these Pop-Tarts. Donna gives them to you at the beginning of the show, like when you start hosting, so you’re just running on Pop-Tarts.”
Gosling’s impact on the bakery
Gosling was describing Cake Shop Bakery, a shop owned and run by Linda Richards that has been running for the past 25 years. She was shocked by the excitement that the comment caused and the number of orders she received the following day. “I did not know that was coming. It was a total shock. I was blown into another universe,” she said to WCTV, the local news outlet. “That’s huge.”
“It’s on fire. The phone rings off the hook. I have thousands of requests,” she continued, revealing that Gosling’s favorite Pop-Tart flavor was strawberry. She also sells flavors like blueberry, cinnamon, and peanut butter and jelly.
