Ryan Murphy’s latest FX show Love Story is based on the true love story between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Find out all about the real-life characters who are portrayed by the cast before the series premieres on February 12.
John was the son of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. He grew up in the White House before J.F.K. was tragically assassinated in 1963.
He firstly became an attorney and then he became a publisher and journalist for the magazine that he launched called George. He passed away in 1999 in a plane crash.
Paul Anthony Kelly portrays John on the TV series. He has modeled for brands such as Marie Layer, Bonobos and Rhone. Paul has appeared in Can’t Live Without ‘Em and You Can’t Take It with You.
Believe it or not, but the Love Story team initially passed on him, however he got to the final three choices in the end for the lead role. He has a hairdresser on set to credit for the role because the hairdresser urged producers to give him the starring role.
Carolyn Bessette Kennedy studied at the School of Education at Boston University and graduated with a degree in elementary education in 1988.
In 1996, she began working for Calvin Klein as a saleswoman in Massachusetts. She worked her way up to become the director of publicity for the popular brand’s flagship store, located in New York City, and she later directed the brand’s fashion shows.
Sarah Pidgeon plays Carolyn in the new show. She studied at the Interlochen Arts Academy and then earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the prestigious Carnegie Mellon School of Drama. Sarah has appeared in One Dollar, Gotham and The Wilds.
Caroline Kennedy was John’s sibling and she is the only surviving child of J.F.K. and Jacqueline’s. She went on to graduate from Radcliffe College and then she earned a Juris Doctor degree at Columbia Law School, before passing her bar exam.
Caroline went on to become a United States ambassador for both Japan and Australia in her career.
Grace Gummer, who is Meryl Streep’s daughter, portrays Caroline on the TV series. She attended Vassar College and earned a degree in Italian and art history.
She has appeared in Mr. Robot, The House of the Spirits, Much Ado About Nothing and Larry Crowne.
Jacqueline firstly attended Vassar College for art and history. She then earned a Bachelor of Arts in French literature from George Washington University.
After college, she was a photographer at the Washington Times-Herald and she met J.F.K. at a dinner party, and the rest was history.
Naomi Watts plays Jacqueline in the new show. Her family immigrated to Australia when she was 14 years old and she began taking acting classes.
She has worked as a model and assistant fashion editor before she made her film debut in 1986 in For Love Alone. She appeared in Mulholland Drive, 21 Grams, and Twin Peaks.
Naomi has previously worked with Ryan on Feud: Capote vs The Swans and All’s Fair.
