Both Sarah Ferguson and her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, have been caught up in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, which led to the pair being evicted from their former home, Royal Lodge.
Since Sarah left the property, it has been unclear where she has been staying. The disgraced royal has reportedly spent time in Switzerland and in Ireland, both in luxury resorts, but it appears that she is now living in the United States with her close friend, Priscilla Presley.
Page Six has reported that she is having issues while planning to move to New York, and that in the meantime, she has been holed up with Priscilla, the ex-wife of iconic American singer, Elvis Presley.
The report claims that Sarah is “effectively homeless”, and that her two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, won’t be letting her live with them. It also says that while many others have thought about helping out the former Duchess of York, it’s thought that her reputation is currently too “radioactive”.
The Mail has also reported that Sarah currently has “few” friends, but that Priscilla remains one of them. The paper added, however, that the 66-year-old is unlikely to remain in the United States on a long-term basis, due to pressure to testify in front of the US Congress over her friendship with the convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.
Sarah Ferguson has long been close to Priscilla, and she had a strong friendship with the star’s late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, whom she affectionately called ‘Sissy’.
Speaking at her funeral back in 2023, Sarah said: “We need to stoke our flames within to celebrate extraordinary Lisa Marie. I stand here with great honour, because we called each other Sissy. I’ve been here with you all for all your lives and I stand here with great honour. So Sissy, this is for you with affection.”
She added: “My late mother-in-law used to say, ‘That nothing can be said, can begin to take away the anguish and the pain of these moments because grief is the price we pay for love’, and how right she was.”
Latest developments
Since further revelations about her friendship with Jeffrey Epstein have come to light, Sarah has been removed as a patron of several charities. On Thursday, it was also confirmed that the former Duchess of York had been stripped of her Freedom of York honour.
York councillors voted unanimously to strip her of the honour, which she has held since 1987. Her ex-husband was stripped of the same honour back in 2022.
The honour recognises notable service by local residents, distinguished people and royalty. Other recipients include Sir Winston Churchill and actress Dame Judi Dench.
