The case regarding the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother continues to develop. Today, authorities revealed that they think Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped from her home, with policemen finding blood in the house. A major news outlet also revealed that they received an alleged ransom note asking for payment in exchange for Nancy’s safety.
“We do believe Nancy was taken from her home against her will,” said Chris Nanos, the Pima County Sheriff, at a press conference.
It’s unknown why Nancy would have been taken from her home, but police officers asked the abductors to please return her home. “Just call us. Let her go. Just call us. The family will tell you, there’s no questions asked here,” said Nanos to NBC News, Guthrie’s employer.
FBI agents said they were taking all tips very seriously. “Every lead and tip is important; we are aggressively pursuing and looking into every single one,” said John Edwards, assistant special agent in the FBI office in Tucson. “Again, please help us bring Nancy Guthrie home.”
According to CBS News, a bit of blood was found inside Nancy’s home. It’s unknown who the blood belongs to, but officials are testing it.
Officials have asked Nancy’s neighbors to help in the investigation by reviewing their home security footage from over the weekend, especially within the hours of 1 to 4 am on Sunday, the day when she was reported missing. “Keep looking. You never know what you’ll see,” said Nanos to CBS News. “Maybe it’s just a pair of headlights. But if you see something that just doesn’t seem right in that neighborhood, please let us know. We can come and download all your digital evidence and take a look at it ourselves.”
“Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant,” wrote Savannah Guthrie on social media. “Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”
TMZ claims they received a ransom note
According to TMZ, the outlet received an alleged ransom note demanding money for Nancy Guthrie. The outlet reports that they received the note earlier today, with it demanding a specific amount of money in cryptocurrency to be sent to a Bitcoin address.
After TMZ completed a check, the address appears to be real.
“There is a deadline connected to the alleged ransom … and an element of ‘or else,'” reports the outlet. After, the FBI shared a statement revealing that they were looking into all tips that were being sent in.
