Scarlett Moffatt has a big change looming in her personal life. The 35-year-old Gogglebox alum and former queen of the I’m a Celebrity jungle is expecting her second son with fiancé Scott Dobinson.
The long-time couple are parents to three-year-old son Jude – who is already running around, taking dance lessons and cracking jokes – so navigating an all-boys household is nothing new for Scarlett. But when asked what the most surprising thing about being pregnant the second time around is, the TV star, who has now reached her third trimester, tells HELLO!: “I think how much more chilled I’ve been.”
“I don’t know if it’s because it took so long for us to have Jude that I overanalysed every movement or every time I had an ache or pain,” she explains. “Whereas this time around I’ve listened to my body more and been like, ‘If I feel like anything’s not right, I’m going to speak to my midwife’.”
The star has been transparent in the past about her turbulent journey to starting a family. After it took four years to get pregnant with Jude, Scarlett and Scott experienced a heartbreaking late-term miscarriage when they tried to expand their family. Scarlett says it feels like a “little dream” now that they’re having their second child.
Preparing for baby number 2
Even with a baby on board, Scarlett has been keeping busy over the summer. She braved the I’m a Celebrity… South Africa jungle back in April and has partnered with Google Gemini in the final stretch of her pregnancy for their Gemidorm campaign, which aims to help take the pressure off parents over the summer break with budget-friendly inspiration for holidaying at home.
© Instagram/ @scarlettmoffattShe’s put together a hospital bag list and sorted out the nursery. But asked how she’s been preparing for baby number two’s impending arrival, Scarlett admits: “I haven’t.”
“I know that sounds really dramatic! When I had Jude, all my focus was just on being pregnant. But when you have a toddler hanging off your neck, or forcing you to pretend to be Captain America, you don’t really have time to do anything else,” she explains.
Just like his parents, Scarlett says her son Jude is “so excited” for the baby. But the star worries her youngest is going to be “bored” – he’s already been asking if his baby brother is out yet and wanting to play. “I’m like, ‘He won’t be playing for a little while’.”

For her last summer as a family of three, Scarlett says she feels the need to spend “as much time as humanly possible” with her son before he inevitably has to share his parents’ time. Despite Scott’s reassurance, the TV star confesses: “I just feel so guilty all the time.”
Parental guilt over the summer break is all too common, according to new research from Google Gemini. 84 per cent of parents feel guilty for not doing “enough” with their kids over the summer because of money worries.
For Scarlett, she’s been tackling the six-week break by taking “each day as it comes.”

Since having her son, summers for Scarlett have become all about UK staycations. For their last summer before becoming a family of four, the TV star has been entertaining her son at home with aqua aerobics in the paddling pool to stay cool in the heatwave, and disco parties in the kitchen, with some help from Gemini to put together a playlist of kid-friendly bops from Mr Tumble and the Wiggles.
“He is as crazy as me, which is good, but we just have a laugh,” Scarlett says of her son, who has been learning the art of joke-telling – particularly the classic ‘why did the chicken cross the road’ variety – from his grandmother.
© Instagram/ @scarlettmoffatt“As long as he’s happy and kind to others, that’s the best feeling as a mum,” she says. “And seeing how much confidence he has in himself makes me feel so proud, he believes he can do everything.”
Another milestone on the way
Soon Scarlett will be facing another big parental milestone: seeing her first child off to school. Jude just celebrated his third birthday in June and has already got his name down for school – a thought his mum finds “so scary”.
“I just can’t believe how quick time’s gone,” Scarlett says. “But I know that he’s so social that I know he’ll thrive. It’s just sitting down at a desk I worry about, but he’s got plenty of time for that.”
