“I am looking forward to starting my studies at the University of Sydney. Being a student will be exciting, and I look forward to gaining new perspectives on both European and international affairs. I am confident that I will learn a great deal,” she said.

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit‘s 21-year-old daughter looked effortlessly stylish in the photos, wearing blue jeans, a navy sweater and sneakers. The Princess will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the university.

The Royal House announced in May that Princess Ingrid Alexandra would be continuing her education at the school in Australia. “Her Royal Highness Princess Ingrid Alexandra will begin her studies at the University of Sydney in August, enrolling in a Bachelor of Arts program,” the Royal House said at the time. “She has chosen a three-year degree with a focus on international relations and political economy.”

“The Princess will be studying full-time and reside in a student residence on campus,” the Royal House added. “Her Royal Highness looks forward to dedicating herself to her studies in the years to come.”

Princess Ingrid Alexandra graduated from high school, Elvebakken High School, back in June of 2023. That fall, she started working as a school assistant and environmental worker at Uranienborg School, and began her military service in January of 2024. The Princess was originally set to serve 12 months of initial service at the Engineer Battalion in Brigade Nord, but it was later extended to 15 months, which she completed this spring.

In June, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway spoke about their granddaughter, who is second in line to the throne, going to Australia. “Isn’t that nice?” His Majesty told the press in Balsfjord, per VG, while the Queen said, “Very good.”

Asked what they thought about individuals who believe the Princess should have studied closer to Norway so she could contribute more to the royal family, the King answered: “You get this back with compound interest when she gets home, so I think that’s just an advantage.”

He added, “She must be allowed to study and get an education before she starts representing.”
