While Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are keeping their wedding plans under wraps, the producer isn’t shy when it comes to sharing his hopes for their life after marriage, including a life he dreams will include kids.
In recent interviews, Benny has opened up about fatherhood, Selena’s influence on his music, and how the couple plans to build a family in their own way. “I love kids; I love being an uncle,” he told InStyle. “I want to be a dad, though, God willing. I’m just dreaming and praying every day.”
The music producer’s vision for his future is grounded in love, patience, and nurturing, as he told Harper’s Bazaar. “Always let your child explore. Love them unconditionally. Follow the vision and don’t give up, but also teach your kid great foundational tips on how to treat themselves, how to treat women and men, and respect and just love and, you know, all the things.”
While his personal life may inspire much of his creativity, he clarified that not all of his lyrics are directly linked to his fiancée. “You know, Selena makes it very easy to write songs about ’cause she’s the best,” he told the publication. “Songs have multiple meanings. Sometimes I’ve written songs and people think it’s about a woman [I’m dating], but it’s really about my relationship with my mother.”
Selena Gomez has also spoken openly about her desire to become a mom. “Absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it,” she said during a March episode of Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast. “I love making them [children] laugh; they’re just so sweet.”
Last fall, she shared with Vanity Fair the reality of her health challenges. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.” Despite that, she remains hopeful and open to other options.
“It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby,” she said.
Selena, who was single for five years before meeting Blanco in 2023, had long been contemplating family life. “Before I met my boyfriend, I was single for five years, with the exception of going on a few dates,” she told Vanity Fair. “And I was like, ‘Okay, if this is the vibe, then what is the most important thing to me? Family.’”
Their romance, which began privately in 2023, took a public turn in December 2024 with the announcement of their engagement. Since then, the couple has continued to balance fame and privacy, planning quietly behind the scenes.
Their wedding is reportedly just around the corner. Sources say the event could last two days this September in Montecito, California, and guests have been asked to pack overnight bags. While intended to be a private celebration with close friends and family, it’s still a Hollywood affair.
A-listers like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are expected, along with Selena’s ‘Only Murders in the Building’ co-stars and several of Benny’s longtime music collaborators.
Benny himself mentioned Ed Sheeran as one of the first names on the guest list. “I just told him, I was like, I’m going to have a wedding and you’re going to come to the wedding,” he said on Australia’s Today Show recently.
Timing-wise, the fall ceremony fits perfectly between the couple’s hectic schedules. “At the end of the year it gets busy, not only for them, but also for everyone they want to attend,” an insider told Daily Mail. And while Blanco recently joked on Therapuss that they both “need to chill” from their busy lives, it’s clear that behind the scenes, plans are moving ahead.
Selena, according to another source, has been dreaming of this day for years. “Selena loves being engaged, but she has been dreaming of being married forever.”
