In case you missed the biggest headline from the Wuthering Heights premiere in London on Thursday evening, let me summarise: Jacob Elordi, 28, is the ultimate gentleman.
The Aussie-born actor and arguably everybody’s favourite internet boyfriend right now, sent the UK into a spin on Thursday evening after he affectionately protected his Wuthering Heights co-star and on-screen doomed lover, Margot Robbie, from the rain.
The timing of the classic British downpour at the premiere in Leicester Square was almost comedic, given that just hours before, the actress-cum-producer was gushing about one particular scene in the Emerald Fennell adaptation of the Brontë classic, where Jacob’s gentlemanly instincts shone through.
Explaining how one of the “most romantic scenes” in the film was improvised by the Euphoria actor, Margot alongside co-star Alison Oliver, who plays Isabella Linton, told Access Hollywood: “The rain machine is on cause we were checking if the rain machine level was right. And I was going like that because the rain had started,” she explained, as she covered her forehead with her hands. She then shared that she looked up at Elordi, and he made an unexpected, sweet gesture.
“Of course, when you’re acting with Jacob, you’re like, looking up like this all the time. So, I went like that, and he just automatically went to cover my face because he’s a gentleman. And it’s just like, that’s the second nature to him – he just automatically went like that,” she explained as she mimicked the action.
The Barbie actress added: “And honestly, both Emerald [Fennell] and I just went, ‘Okay, stop.’ And he was not aware that he had done anything chivalrous or romantic at all. And we were just like, ‘That was the most romantic thing I have experienced and seen, so do that for the whole scene.’ And then we made that the scene.”
It may have been one of the most viral foreshadowings to exist in the land of La La, because amid the torrential downpour on Thursday night, Jacob made sure her was there for the Barbie star once again, protecting her from the rain with his hands, and helping her as she walked the red carpet in her incredible dress.
But the Frankenstein actor certainly isn’t the only Hollywood heartthrob proving that chivalry is far from dead. Defibrillators at the ready as we take a look at just some of the Hollywood hunks whose red carpet chivalry left us feeling completely besotted!
