Bad Bunny will perform on Sunday, February 8, during the halftime show of Super Bowl LX, at the game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. This will not be his first time appearing at a Super Bowl, as nearly six years ago, he shared the stage with Shakira when she headlined the halftime show alongside Jennifer Lopez.

On that occasion, “El Conejo Malo” was Shakira’s special guest. Together, they sang and danced on the stage at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens during the matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs on February 2, 2020.

Just days before the Super Bowl, where the Puerto Rican artist will be the main star of the show, we look back at what his first time participating in one of the most important music spectacles in the world was like.

Shakira, dressed in a red, glittering top and a matching miniskirt, opened the show with “She Wolf.” She then performed the iconic songs “Empire” and “Ojos Así.” It was during the latter that she captivated millions with her belly dancing and signature hip movements.

After that, Bad Bunny joined her on stage wearing an outfit that created a striking contrast, entirely in silver, from the headscarf to the jewel-embellished coat he wore. Alongside Shakira, the singer performed a medley of several songs, which included the hit “I Like It” by Cardi B, as well as a blended version of Shakira’s “Chantaje.”

To close that segment, Bad Bunny performed “Callaíta,” a song he had released just a year earlier, in May 2019. In fact, it is said that this track could be part of the setlist the singer is planning for his halftime show, this time as the main headliner.

Now it is the Colombian singer’s turn to once again celebrate Latin representation at the halftime show. Days after it was announced that Bad Bunny would be in charge of entertaining the event, Shakira was interviewed by Variety, where she reacted with excitement to the upcoming performance by Benito Ocasio Martínez, the singer’s real name.

When asked about the announcement of the Puerto Rican artist’s performance at the sporting event, the singer responded, “It was about time!”

“I am very proud that Bad Bunny, who represents not only Latin culture but also the importance and universality of Spanish-language music worldwide, will be able to perform on the biggest stage in the world,” she continued. “It’s the perfect moment for a performance like this, and I can’t wait to see it.”
