Sherri Shepherd stole the show at the NYC premiere of her new Lifetime film, Angel in the Rubble: The Genelle Guzman Story, as she showcased her ultra-svelte figure in a form-fitting gown.

The 59-year-old looked incredible in the strapless blue beaded gown, which featured floral designs and an intricate neckline. Sherri was glowing in the look, which she completed with a delicate necklace, gold bangles, drop earrings and matching blue heels, and she left her brunette tresses down in glamorous waves.

The star, who ended her run on daytime TV in 2026 following the cancelation of her eponymous talk show, has undergone an incredible weight loss journey over the years.

Her health journey began in 2007, when she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. “Diabetes runs in my family, but we didn’t call it diabetes – we called it ‘the sugar,'” she explained to E! News. “So that tells you right there, my community not being aware and taking it seriously.”

“I was ignoring the symptoms, like tingling in my fingers and my toes, numbness, blurry vision, going to the bathroom nonstop,” she continued.

“I didn’t know that my body was trying to rid itself of this sugar and my body’s not producing enough insulin to do it.”

Eating well

Sherri got to work and learned everything from how to read health labels on food products to how to add fibre into her diet.

“Diabetes isn’t something you can leave to chance, and I have found that if I’m not intentional about finding some healthy snacks, like a handful of almonds instead of some chocolate, it affects my mood for the whole day,” the TV personality told Woman’s World.

“I know when I’m not eating right, and then I don’t feel good and don’t smile.”

Some of her go-to snacks include cottage cheese with blueberries and cinnamon, watermelon, mangoes and grapes, although fruits can raise her glucose levels if not eaten in moderation.

In the gym

As for her exercise regimen, Sherri is a stickler for the gym, as she told the outlet. “Walking is the thing I can do on my own…but I go to a gym four times a week and lift weights,” she said. “The real truth is that as we age, we lose muscle mass, and the muscle mass helps if you fall. I lift heavy weights at the gym, and it strengthens the core, so if you fall, you know how to fall and can get up. And I’m boxing.”

Her next step

Following her incredible transformation, Sherri will step into the role of Genie in the Broadway’s Aladdin from October 2026 to January 2027, making her the first woman to play the iconic part that Robin Williams made famous in the 1992 film version.

“Joining Aladdin on Broadway is an absolute dream come true – and an incredible honor,” the Emmy winner said in a statement. “The Genie is such an iconic character, and I’m beyond excited to bring my own energy, humor, heart, and a little bit of magic to this role.”

“To step on that stage as the first woman to ever play the Genie is something I don’t take lightly. I’m ready to rub the lamp, unleash some magic, and have the time of my life on Broadway.”
