The BBC has unveiled a first look at the highly anticipated new season of Vigil, the hit drama starring Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie.
In season three, DCI Amy Silva (Jones) and DI Kirsten Longacre (Leslie) investigate a new case at a remote Arctic research station. The new cast includes Shetland’s Steven Miller and Maigret’s Benjamin Wainwright, among a host of other familiar faces.
Fans will undoubtedly be counting down the days until season three’s release. The Emmy-winning drama was watched by over 12 million viewers when it was first released back in 2021, becoming one of the UK’s most successful dramas this decade. The series has been hailed as “magnificent” by viewers and holds a respectable 72 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In season one, Amy Silva was enlisted to investigate a murder on a navy submarine in Scottish waters, while season two saw Amy and Kirsten drawn into the world of drone warfare after multiple unexplained deaths at a Scottish military facility.

Who stars in Vigil season 3?
Reprising their roles alongside Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie are Gary Lewis (DS Robertson) and Dominic Mafham (Sir Ian Downing).
They’re joined by some new faces, including Shetland’s Steven Miller, The Trip’s Jeppe Beck Laursen and Maigret actor Benjamin Wainwright. Other big names include Naomi Yang (Under Salt Marsh, Wolfe), Tornike Gogrichiani (Extraction 2, Drops of God) and Danusia Samal (Red Eye, The Great).
