Sienna Miller is opening up about her third pregnancy. The actress, who is pregnant and in her 40s, is addressing some of the criticism that women receive when they decide to have a child at this point in their lives.
“We don’t judge men who are having kids in their 80s,” Miller said in an interview with Glamour. “Why on earth is there any sort of narrative?
Miller revealed that she’d frozen her eggs, even though she ultimately didn’t use them. “I was really fortunately able just to get pregnant, but it was an existential relief having done that in my late 30s,” she said.
She shared the news of her pregnancy on her social media after taking an 8-month break. She shared a post in March, showing off her baby bump alongside two photos: one showing Michael Jordan on the cover of Sports Illustrated, reading “I’m back,” and a screenshot of David Lynch conducting an interview, where he’s asked to elaborate on one of his answers and replies, “No.”
Miller shares the perks of having a child in her 40s
In that same interview, Miller opened up about having children at different points in her life, revealing that she feels much more prepared now than she did when she was younger. “Having had a baby at 29, and then having a baby at 42, and now 44, it’s so much easier when you don’t have the conflict of feeling scattered and like you want to be doing X, Y, Z,” she said.
“If I’m in bed at 9 p.m. with a book, I’m so happy now. And now I’ve got the excuse to do it. Life is in a more grounded space. I think the 30s are chaos. You’re like, ‘I want to settle down. I want kids.'”
“But by the time you hit 40, you’re like, ‘I kind of know who I am. I don’t really give a s–t about what anyone else thinks,'” she continued. “I’m a much more grounded human.”
Miller is expecting her second child with her boyfriend, Oli Green. She had her first child with her ex, Tom Sturridge.
