Sofía Vergara’s son Manolo shared rare pics of the Colombian star as a mom over the years

To celebrate Mother’s Day, Sofía Vergara’s son, entrepreneur-turned-restaurateur Manolo González, 33, dug into the archives and shared a photo album that showed that his stunning mom has been a star long before Hollywood. 

Sofía Vergara became a mom at 19 when she welcomed Manolo with her first husband, José González. The album included a 1991 photo that captured the moments after Sofía became “Mom.” Makeup-free and unmistakably radiant, she cradles newborn Manolo, her naturally blonde hair tumbling over hospital sheets. It’s the raw kind of photo every family keeps tucked in a shoebox, but few get to share with millions.

The collection of pics has many early-’90s gems: Sofía in a slinky black dress, platinum locks glowing under flash photography, already giving leading-lady energy. These images remind us how much she sacrificed to secure a future for her son.

Mother and son remain close, and on this special day, the Griselda actress posted a photo of the two of them celebrating over a restaurant meal with the caption, “Feliz Mother’s Day weekend to all the mamasitas!! ❤️❤️💐💐.” She later reshared his post, adding, “Gracias, hijito ❤️❤️❤️.”

Last year, the mom and son duo co-launched Toma, an elevated empanada concept that combines Colombian comfort food with high-end culinary techniques. It joins Sofía’s growing empire: from her Walmart clothing line to her beauty brand Toty and her latest ¡Dios Mío! Coffee, which she calls “a love letter to Latinas everywhere.”

Their bond keeps showing up in the big moments, too. Earlier this moth, Sofía celebrated the 10th anniversary of her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame by reposting video of the ceremony, showing Manolo’s speech praising her perseverance and humor. Watching him shine with pride while she wiped away happy tears was a reminder that their success is collaborative. She pushes forward knowing he’s in her corner, and he steps up every time to celebrate her milestones. A very supporting mom and son relationship!
