Like many of us, Susan Sarandon is confused by Instagram’s latest layout. In an exchange highlighted by her son, Jack Henry Robbins, Sarandon left a comment for movie legend Martin Scorsese. Instead of sending a direct message, like she wanted, she left a public comment.
Documenting it all were her son, Robbins, and Scorsese’s daughter, Francesca Scorsese, who couldn’t help but make fun of their parents and each other.
The whole exchange began with a photo posted by Francesca. Her dad left a sweet comment in one of her posts. “Truce? That’s my girl!” he wrote, adding a heart emoji.
Sarandon dropped a comment on that same thread. “Marty talk to your daughter.”
Robbins immediately pitched in. “MOM! I told you to DM him everyone can see this.”
“This is DM,” replied Sarandon.
“No it’s not! Mom,” wrote Robbins. “Top right corner. Oh man.”
Robbins shared the screenshot in his Instagram story, sharing some context over the image. “I’m so embarrassed. But also this isn’t what it looks like/is.”
Francesca also shared the photo on her Instagram stories, sending a funny jab towards Robbins. “Such a wimp,” she wrote.
Sarandon and Scorsese share a long-term friendship due to both being some of the leading figures in Hollywood for decades. While the two have yet to collaborate on a film project, they’ve frequented the same circles through the years.
Robbins’ hilarious Nepo baby videos
Robbins, the son of Sarandon and actor Tim Robbins, is also an actor and filmmaker. Like many young actors and filmmakers with ties to the industry, he’s been labeled as a nepo-baby. In his case, he’s used the nickname for good, making hilarious videos that poke fun at his status, all part of a series called “A Day in the Life of a Nepo-Baby.”
His most recent clip was made in collaboration with Francesca, with the two fighting all through the clip as Robbins explains that he’s been bullied by Francesca his entire life. He captioned the video simply: “my bully,” reads the caption, tagging Francesca herself.
The overall project has been a success, including a partnership with the National Diaper Bank Network to shine a spotlight on diaper need, with Robbins using his persona to attract attention to the topic.
“I hope people watch the PSA, especially because working with the lead actor, me, was very difficult, because of his ego and self-sabotaging nature. I am relieved we were able to finish the shoot day with only a handful of mini nepo meltdowns,” he joked.
