We all have sartorial muses that dominate our mood boards, and Sydney Sweeney is no exception. The actress rarely strays from her inspiration, consistently channelling the timeless glamour of Marilyn Monroe when it comes to delivering a scene-stealing red carpet moment.

After debuting an Old Hollywood–inspired bob and playfully rocking a plunging white dress, Sydney took her style choices one step further at the Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival Virtuosos Award ceremony on February 8.

Styled by Molly Dickson, the actress slipped into a vintage 1950s Ceil Chapman gown that Marilyn wore 70 years prior. The ivory-hued dress featured an off-the-shoulder neckline adorned with the brand’s swirling diamond-encrusted brooch. The garment boasted ruched, gathered detailing on the sleeves and skirt while retaining a figure-hugging silhouette. The look was completed with a pair of coordinated pointed-toe heels.

Sydney’s blonde bombshell locks were styled into bouncy curls while her makeup oozed soft glam, courtesy of a shimmery eye, a pinch of blush, and a rose-hued lip.

The late Hollywood star wore a near identical iteration of the dress when she appeared on the cover of Life Magazine in April 1952. Marilyn was known to collaborate with the New York designer, who became synonymous with the glamour of performers like Elizabeth Taylor.

Back in December last year, Sydney channeled the sensibility of old Hollywood glamour in an ensemble reminiscent of Marilyn at the Los Angeles premiere of her new psychological thriller, The Housemaid.

Sydney wore a custom white Galia Lahav gown featuring a plunging halter neckline, a cinched bodice, and a flowing semi-sheer skirt adorned with feather-trim detailing along the hem.

The garment embodied Marilyn’s white fit-and-flare gown from the 1955 classic, The Seven Year Itch. The dress was crafted by costume designer William Travilla and featured a billowing silhouette with a ruched bodice and halter neckline.

Lingerie brand

Sydney’s latest fashion statement comes after she announced the launch of her new lingerie brand, Syrn, at the end of January. The 28-year-old shared insight into the first four pieces from the collection, named Seductress, Romantic, Playful and Comfy, with photos of her on different sets wearing the lacy lingerie.

“The secret is finally out…say hello to @syrn,” she wrote in the caption. “This is lingerie you wear for YOU, no explanation, no apology…there’s so much more I can’t wait to show you. Xoxo, Syd.”

As per the press release, Sydney opened up about what inspired her to create the lingerie brand. “I was in the sixth grade with DDs. I hated the bra I had to wear. When I bought my first cute bra that actually fit, I wore it to pieces. Designing for different bodies is a huge part of Syrn,” she shared.

“I wanted to create a place where women can move between all the different versions of who we are. I love working on cars, I go waterskiing, I’ll dress up for the red carpet, then go home to snuggle my dogs. I’m not one thing, no woman is.”
