Sylvester Stallone is opening up about his marriage to Jennifer Flavin. He has almost no regrets when it comes to their marriage, but he does have one romantic note.
In a talk with Tracy Smith for CBS Sunday Morning, Stallone shared his one “do-over” for any situation in his life. He picked his marriage to Flavin.
“I wish I’d married my wife about eight years earlier,” Stallone said. “I was like such an idiot, procrastinating. Because you know, I’m still actually learning about relationships that bad.”
“Uh, so I regret that. And I’m sorry, baby,” he added, looking at Flavin.
© GC ImagesStallone noted the failed relationships in his life, including his dynamic with his parents. Over the years, Stallone has opened up about his parents, who were both very ambitious. Stallone has said that his parents likely saw him as an obstacle.
“So a lot of people that have these issues, it’s not your fault. You know, it’s just the way you evolve it,” he said.
In an interview with The New York Times, Stallone shared the one tender moment he can remember with his father. “I’ll never forget, I was maybe 9 years old, and he would have me take care of his horses. We were coming back from the barn. He’s driving, and I fell asleep. So he put my head on his knee and his hands on my head. I never got over that. I went, Wow, that’s what it feels like. Just a simple stroking of your child’s hair. But that was it. It was one and done,” he said.
Stallone and Flavin’s marriage
© GettyImagesStallone and Flavin met in 1988, dating for six years before they broke up. The couple got back together years later, getting married in 1997. In 2022, Flavin filed for divorce, but the two reconciled a few months later, with the paperwork dismissed.
The pair share three daughters: Sophia Rose, 30, Sistine Rose, 28, and Scarlet Rose, 24.
Stallone has two sons from his marriage with the late actress Sasha Czack: Seargeoh, 44, and Sage.
Sage died in 2012 from coronary artery disease. He was 36 years old.
