Amid a flurry of sudden announcements, Taylor Swift managed to drop another one – this time for a new music video to accompany her upcoming single “Patient Zero.”
The singer shared a snippet for the upcoming visual, which features Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell alongside Taylor, set to premiere at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27, which you can watch above.
As the clip began making rounds, fans on social media figured they’d finally decoded the “Blank Space” hitmaker’s explicit set of clues in her Law & Order Emmys skit appearance.
Many connected the word “saccharide,” aka the chemical block for “sugar,” to Colin’s role in the TV series Sugar, in which he plays the titular John Sugar.
For Dakota, meanwhile, fans spotted several clues. Beyond their existing real-life friendship, Taylor’s words “North or South” were linked to the actual states, the Dakotas. The Emmys clip also featured a murder board linking to Saturday Night Live.
The 50 Shades of Grey star will be hosting the upcoming season 52 premiere of SNL on October 3, which happens to be the one year anniversary of The Life of a Showgirl. Eagle-eyed fans also spotted in the clip a statue of Marcellus as Hermes Logios, the god of eloquence, aka the half-brother of Ares, another clue from Taylor’s Emmys package.

The single is Taylor’s first since June’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” as part of the Toy Story 5 soundtrack. It is one of four tracks featured in the upcoming The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore extended edition.
