Premiering in 1983, The A-Team quickly became one of television’s defining action series of the decade. Combining explosive stunts, tongue-in-cheek humour and an unforgettable cast of rogue heroes, the show followed a group of Vietnam veterans turned soldiers of fortune helping the innocent while evading military authorities. Its larger-than-life characters and quotable lines made it a global phenomenon. More than 40 years on, the series remains a cult classic – and its stars’ lives have unfolded in fascinating, sometimes tragic, ways both before and after their fame. Mr. T as B.A. Baracus
With his mohawk, gold chains and catchphrases, Mr. T, now 73, became the breakout icon of The A-Team, and his catchphrase “I pity the fool” – not to mention his fear of flying – became legendary. Before landing the role, he gained notoriety as a bodyguard to celebrities and as a standout personality in the film Rocky III.
After the series, he pursued acting, wrestling appearances and motivational speaking, becoming a pop-culture mainstay. A devout Christian, he has spoken openly about surviving cancer in the mid-1990s and later reinvented himself as a reality TV and voice-over personality.

Already an established film and television star before the series, George Peppard brought gravitas to the cigar-smoking leader of the squad, Hannibal. Known for classics like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, he initially clashed with the show’s lighter tone but ultimately became its anchor and known for his catchphrase: “I love it when a plan comes together”.

Dirk Benedict as Templeton “Face” Peck
Dirk had cult credentials even before The A-Team, thanks to his role in Battlestar Galactica. As charming con-man Face, he cemented his status as a fan favourite.

Dwight Schultz as HM “Howling Mad” Murdock
Dwight’s manic, unpredictable pilot became one of the series’ most beloved characters. Before The A-Team, he built a solid stage career, and afterwards he became a prolific voice actor, notably on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

She co-authored mystery novels and maintained a lower public profile, becoming known more for her literary pursuits than her screen work in later years.
Marla Heasley as Tawnia Baker
Marla joined the cast in later seasons as Tawnia Baker, a savvy reporter assisting the team. Before the role, she appeared in popular shows such as The Love Boat and TJ Hooker. After The A-Team, Marla continued working in television throughout the 1980s before stepping away from acting.

Eddie Velez as Frankie Santana
Eddie, now 67, was introduced in the final season as Frankie Santana, an effects specialist who brought a new dynamic to the team’s missions.
