Netflix has released a first look at Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, a “spine-tingling” new horror series starring The Night Manager‘s Camila Morrone alongside Overcompensating actor Adam DiMarco.
Created by Haley Z. Boston (Cabinet of Curiosities, Brand New Cherry Flavor), the eight-part series follows a couple on the brink of marriage. But as their wedding day approaches, an overwhelming sense of dread begins to creep in, forcing them to question whether they’ve made the right choice.
Promising a “deliciously fresh” horror twist, the series comes from the executive producers of Stranger Things and the director of Baby Reindeer, and has been likened to classic psychological horrors, including Carrie and Rosemary’s Baby.
Fans of Camila’s recent turn as Roxana Bolaños in The Night Manager are in for a treat, as the actor steps firmly into the spotlight in her first leading Netflix role. While a departure from the spy thriller genre, the newly released teaser shows Camila in striking dramatic form, fighting back tears as she walks solemnly down the aisle in a wedding dress.

The couple go on a road trip before tying the knot
What is Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen about?
The series centres around Rachel and Nicky in the week leading up to their “ill-fated” nuptials.
The Netflix synopsis continues: “If Carrie is horror’s version of a girl becoming a woman, and Rosemary’s Baby is the horrific version of a woman becoming a mother, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is horror’s take on a woman becoming a wife.
“Rachel (Camila Morrone) is getting married in five days. Together with her fiancé, Nicky (Adam DiMarco), she embarks on a road trip to his family’s vacation home, secluded in a snowy forest, for the intimate wedding ceremony of their dreams.
“Which really would be so lovely, except… prone to superstition and paranoia, Rachel can’t shake the relentless feeling that something bad is going to happen.
“Her foreboding doubts, coupled with a series of eerie coincidences and dreadful surprises, force her to ask the question: What makes two people soulmates? And worse – what could be scarier than lifelong commitment to the wrong person?”
Karla Crome as Nell, Gus Birney as Portia and Jeff Wilbusch as Jules
They’re joined by Jennifer Jason Leigh (Fargo, Annihilation) as Victoria, Ted Levine (Monk, Big Sky) as Boris, Gus Birney (Shining Vale, The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window) as Portia and Jeff Wilbusch (Unorthodox, Oslo) as Jules.
Rounding out the cast are Karla Crome (The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde, Lazarus) as Nell, Sawyer Fraser (The Good Doctor) as Jude and Zlatko Burić (Triangle of Sadness) in an unnamed role.
What has the creator said about Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen?
Speaking to Tudum, the show’s creator, Haley, revealed the series was inspired by her own anxieties around love and commitment.
“The show is about the fear of marrying the wrong person,” she said. “When I was a kid, my mom told me, ‘You just need to make sure you don’t marry the wrong person.’
“I’ve been to weddings where people say in their vows, ‘I never once had a doubt.’ I hear that and I’m like, ‘That’s crazy. What do you mean?'”
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen lands on Netflix on 26 March.
