The Princess of Wales was noticeably absent from this year’s Diplomatic Corps Reception. While Her Royal Highness missed the event at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening, her husband, the Prince of Wales, was in attendance.
King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed guests from the Diplomatic community to the reception at the palace. Since 2013, with the exception of 2014, Catherine has stunned at the event in regal gowns and tiaras. Last year, the Princess shimmered in a pink Jenny Packham sequin gown and the Lover’s Knot Tiara.
Although she was not at the reception on Nov 19, the Princess joined members of the royal family earlier this month at the Service of Remembrance at The Cenotaph and at the Festival of Remembrance.
Catherine, who began a course of preventative chemotherapy in late February, announced in September that she had finished her treatment. “Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus,” she said at the time. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes. I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”
She continued, “Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life. William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time. Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling.”
The Princess is set to make a public appearance in early December. Catherine will be hosting her fourth “Together at Christmas” carol service on Dec. 6 at Westminster Abbey. Kensington Palace has said that the Princess of Wales “wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need – individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive.”
